Just finished reading this novel. I absolutely loved it. I was a relative Gaiman unknown until I picked up American Gods a few years ago. Since then I've read several of his works, and I become more and more impressed with each one I read. If you've been considering picking it up, then by all means do so. Also, if you're a singer, you'll probably get a little something extra out of the book that I really really enjoyed. :p

I'm glad you enjoyed it guitarsingerguy.

Here's a neat little fact about Neil Gaiman: he's originally from Portchester in Hampshire, which is where I live. :D

Sorry, that doesn't really have anything to do with the book, I just thought I'd post it anyway. :O

I enjoyed Anansi Boys thoroughly. In fact, I began re-reading it yesterday. I'm starting to think that the next time Gaiman writes a comic book series or mini series, it should have more of an Anansi Boys feel and tone. I mean, I love Sandman, but it can be a little too glum at times. It's be nice to see Neil write a funny comic.

Read it a while back as well, it does indeed kick ass. :woot::up:

I've got Neverwhere in my book collection and haven't read it yet. Is that one any good?

how good is it? how would you describe it?

It's a very enjoyable read. It's sort of a feel good story about family, self discovery, and music. It's intertwined with old mythology based on different long forgotten gods. It's a great book, and definitely worth a read if you like any of the aforementioned subjects.

Honestly, I've never read Sandman before. My first run in with Gaiman was the Mirrormask movie. Then I picked up American Gods (also a great book), Stardust, Coraline, and just finished Anansi Boys. Neil Gaiman has a very unique style, and even though all of his books are for the most part very different, they share the same feel throughout. When you read one of his books you're either in or out. There's no inbetween. You either take it for what it is and enjoy it, or you don't and you hate it.

I'm planning on picking this up next. I prefer to have a single concurrent storyline, but I've heard so many good things about this book, I have to get it.

I don't think that's emtirely true. There are Gaiman stories that I'm rather indifferent to.
