Check Out Jodie Foster's Look for Elysium

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=99557

New behind-the-scenes photos from Neill Blomkamp's upcoming sci-fi thriller Elysium are now online, courtesy of Jodie Foster fan twitter account Simply Jodie (via Bleeding Cool). As you can see below, these three images offer a good look at what to expect from the August 9 release.

Also starring Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, Wagner Moura and William Fichtner, the film is set in the year 2159, where two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Blomkamp offers an update on the film.

Neil Blomkamp said:
"It's kind of weird that it sits on a shelf and doesn't come out until August 9th but I think a summer release is fantastic for the film. Elysium is basically done at the end of February. I have some straggling VFX shots that go into April but it's almost done. The stuff looks absolutely amazing.

Pretty much the whole movie in the can, we're a few weeks away from the original release date, and yet we still haven't even had a teaser trailer?

Hopefully now he will move onto developing District 10, possibly my most anticipated movie ever, loved d9, one of the best movies I had experienced in years.

He's moving onto a sci fi comedy he wrote with Matt Damon I believe

I don't know if it was written by Matt Damon but that film is called Chappie. Its been in the news lately.

It's obvious he's expressing his thoughts on apartheid in his flicks. They aren't very hidden allegories, but it is what it is.

He makes James Cameron look subtle.

Not to say I don't like his movies, but dress it up a bit more.

where the hell is the trailer for this movie? it's still coming out this year right?

Yep in August. District 9 is in my top 5 movies of all time so I'm very anxious to see footage as well.

I think that's going a good bit overboard. Sure, D9 (and so it seems, Elysium as well) was not very subtle with it's themes, but I didn't feel like they were constantly hitting me over the head and being shoved down my throat like Avatar. They were obvious, but I didn't find them as over the top with their delivery.

Dammit, Buddha! Got me all excited for some kind of news on this movie...
