I just watched Firebase and Rakka. I really enjoyed them. The production value and designs of the creatures are pretty spectacular, given the circumstances. I think I may have enjoyed Firebase just a tad bit more. I really liked the idea of a victim of war manifesting his anger and grief into some kind of power. That, and the "River God" design was straight terrifying.

As an aside: Canadian actor Tyler Johnston played the burned surviving soldier in Firebase. I know him from a TV show called Letterkenny, where he plays a VASTLY different character. This isn't relevant to anything, but... people should watch Letterkenny.

Zygote is my least favourite so far. If Rakka was his Alien 5, then Zygote is his Thing 2. Still good stuff tho!

Pretty much what I expected from Blomkamp in this format. What little story there is is nonsensical jargon and call signs, zero character development. The CGI is cool enough, especially given what I assume is a small budget, but the cinematography is terrible and does the visuals absolutely no favors. Even the score is generic.

All in all, nothing to write home about. Have to say, for all of the problems I have with Covenant, I'm glad Blomkamp's Aliens sequel was scrapped.
