Netflix's 13 REASONS WHY

Why did they have to play that song in the teaser? :waa:

Yeah, I really hope his doe-eyed boyfriend is hit hard by the **** that Monty did, because this Justice For Monty stuff is nonsense. For **** sake, Monty beat the crap out of him the night they met.

Yeah that’s what I thought (about him beating up the guy before they hooked up) but it’s been a while since I’ve seen the show.

I do remember the new girl being annoying though.

Well, they did set up Monty to take the fall for Bryce's murder so he's innocent in that regard.

Anyway, it looks like the show was shot different this season.

This show just makes me sad. I liked season one so much, it wasn't perfect but I think it made its statement and should've ended there. S2 was unbearably bad. That said, I'll read the spoilers after it comes out because I always check in on the shows I quit, even if I don't watch them.

lol Zach
being surprised by that kiss when he literally gave Alex an erection two seasons ago

Lol I'm 5 episodes in and this season and on a whole other level of insanity IMO. Just when I thought this show couldn't get any crazier they are all of the sudden going into somekind of weird and random slasher/supernatural horror type direction. It's honestly so god damn bizarre and random that I just can't help but be entertained just by the sheer ridiculousness of it, but man would I love to have an actual conversation with these showrunners one day about how this became such a significantly different show after that first great season.

Could barely get through Season 3 (it was nothing like Seasons 1 and 2), I couldn't stand the Ani character and was mostly bored by the plot.

Is this season any better than S3 or should I waste my time elsewhere?

Because it was originally supposed to be one season just like there's only one book. Netflix and the showrunners just got greedy.

Some iffy stuff this season, but the finale worked for me tbh.

I only watched the first season, mainly because of that. One season just made sense for the format ... 13 reasons, 13 tapes, 13 episodes.

I remember getting ready to watch the second season a while ago, but Netflix showed a short preview that made me lose all interest. It was the most "emo" thing I had ever seen :whatever: So I tried something else that night and then kind of forgot about this show

I still disagree with them editing the last episode of the first season.

As much as I didn't like this season damn did that ending get me.I found it pretty emotional and very sad that Justin went out the way he did, but I guess it was only inevitable. They regressed so much with the characters this season though which I absolutely hated and honestly there should have been way more consequences for a lot of the crazy stuff Clay did this season. I'm definitely glad this show is over, because man were they running out of ideas.

Some people were shocked by what happened to Justin. While I was sad about it I saw it coming since the moment they found him on the streets. It was heavily hinted he did that stuff.

The seasons kept getting worse and worse unfortunately. I also enjoyed S1 and S2 while disappointing at the time - actually looks pretty OK now with S3 and S4 in mind. Still not as good as S1 but while it started to go off the rails, it still felt like it connected to the story.

S3 was really bad not just because they added a terrible new character as a MAIN character but I just never understood what went through their mind regarding Bryce. I guess the idea was "monsters can be human too" but when you paint someone to be THAT bad for 2 seasons and be not just a bully but also a serial-rapist, you can't just then do a 180 and show him having fun moments with his mom or showing the 'good' characters being rude towards him to try to make us feel sympathy for him. If anything by trying to make him likable they made everyone else more unlikable instead, and at the end of S3 there's like nothing redeemable about any of the main characters. They've all done bad **** and deserve punishment for it.

S4 did thankfully demote Ani to a minor role compared to S3 but the story (or lack of story) just felt all over the place. Clay getting more and more mentally unstable was interesting in theory (not so much in execution) and personally I would have found the season overall redeemable if the ending of S4 was him having gotten to the point where Hannah was in S1 with deciding to end his life, but only with the twist this time that he decides not to go with it because of the support of the people around him. Instead that plot kinda just fizzles out. Instead the main death of the season is something that comes completely out of left field in the last episode that really has nothing to do with anything else going on. Another weird thing for me is you have new characters who are trying to uncover what happened in S3 but they are portrayed as the bad guy we are supposed to hate yet they are actually trying to do the good thing, compared to our main group of friends where all of them finish the show basically escaping any punishment at all despite the horrible stuff they did.

Let's not even get into the car crash and the 'aftermath' it had for 1 minute in the following episode only to never be mentioned again. OR the mental hospital escape which had no repercussion. :D

I enjoyed elements of the show but I also felt like the show got progressively worst each season.

The Jensen parents saints. The most tolerant and supporting parents I think I've ever seen on a tv show.

Clay's angst and paranoia got very annoying at times. The brotherly bond between Clay and Justin was a highlight for me.

I thought Tony might of become a cop after being mentored by that deputy.

Charlie is like a pure heart innocent unicorn in one of the worst fictional high school.

I still don't feel a drop of sympathy for Bryce or Monty. Sure we saw there difficult backgrounds and human sides but it still didn't wash away the horrific things they did. Everyone holding up a cup for Monty seemed dubious. I could see the football team doing it but I doubt the rest of the school would be cheering for a violent bully that sexually assaulted another kid.

The love graduation speech was corny. The college interview that turns into a therapy session in which a character starts to monologue some life lessons they learn is a trope I hate. It always take me out of a show or movie because it is unrealistic.

The camping and riot episodes were just ridiculous. It's like if Riverdale took it's self really serious and thought it was telling people some profound message.

In s1 I actually quite liked Clay because he was pushing for everyone to own up to their part in Hannah killing herself and he wanted everyone's horrible secrets out in the open which made for an entertaining season. But I fully agree that since then, with every season it's just gotten worse and worse. I swear there was a line he said in s4 about being tired of things never being normal and I almost yelled at the screen "it would be normal if you could only act like a normal kid". The brotherly bond he had with Justin was great but ultimately because of what they did with Justin I felt it had no pay off. :/
