Neurosurgeon wants to perform the first head transplant by 2017

This just seems really out there. I'm not a Dr. but I just dont see how this could work especially with trying to reconnect all of the nerve endings and what not. Not to mention they have to find a donor.


This could certainly go in the weird new of the world thread but I thought it could use its own.

30 years ago people would have said the same about an arm or a hand transplant, those happen.

Robert J White did it on a monkey almost 50 years ago. The only problem with it was that he has to sever the spine. The monkey also died 9 days later. With the advancement of medical science and technology, it could quite possibly be done.
