The demo (multiplayer) map they put out looks bland and lifeless compared to the single player components of the game.

Anyway, I just did some Survivor, not bad. Shooting Aliens en masse should never be underestimated as a form of entertainment.

Shouldn't enemies like that in general should be the same. I love 'horde modes', except L4D survival mode. Too hard for my tastes.

Anyone else think the Predator is underpowered in comparison in terms of its attacks?

Some of the weapons are quite inaccurate & hard to master.. particuarly against a moving target.

Hm, hard to say, because the game very much takes place in the Alien universe, in the future rather than in the present like the Predator films. If you like the Predator character, then you'll be happy. Lucky you, you haven't seen any of the AVP's. Lucky guy!

Rented the game today, holy pooch the SP is disappointing, at least for the Predator. Took me 3-4 hours and felt rather boring. The narrative, IMO, is horrible. Nowhere near AvP2's Predator campaign, that, I enjoyed thouroughly. Playing now the Alien campaign and last I'll tackle the Marine campaign.

Yeah, the story is a total mess and infuriating when you realize they recycle the environments. The Marine and Alien bits had moments but a real step down from previous efforts. I'm just glad I did the Marine first since I could be somewhat tense in this new locales.

Played some Team Deathmatch, I'm really loving the Alien. Stabbing your tail through their back and out the mouth is disturbingly satisfying.

I've played all three stories and online and while it does have it's moments the only reason I am enjoying this game honestly is because I am a huge fan of both franchises. But as a game it's pretty bad, I mean they haven't really made any new advances since the PC games. The story is bad, voice acting terrible, the campaigns are short and get boring after the first hour, though the Marine's first few levels were well done. And dear lord the graphics are painful, more so on an HDTV. Controls are not that bad for the Marine and Predator, though they take some getting use to. But the Alien controls are hindered mainly by the wall crawling system, half the time I have no idea where the hell I am.

Now online can be fun but I don't know if this is for anyone else but for me it takes forever to get a game going and most games have almost no people in them. But overall online is pretty solid.

As a whole the game is bad, in my opinion. I'm glad I rented it because of the poor presentation and even with the online how long are people going to be playing it realistically? I'm curious to come back to the online at the end of the year and see if anyone is sticking around. I'm just going to stick to AVP 2 for the PC, now that's some good stuff.

Haha yea, as iv said, the single player portion of the game is there only to set you up for the multiplayer. If the mp wasnt as robust as it is, this game would have almost no redeeming qualities.

Yea, it tends to take a bit long to get into a game, but most games i play are full, either a 12 man game or 18 man game. I think i prefer the 12, because the 18 man games seem to end too quickly.

If you are going into the game primarily for the Predators single player campaign, then no, its not going to satisfy you as a Predator fan in any way. Its the shortest and most bland of the 3 campaigns.

Online is a different story tho. Its immensely satisfying hunting a group of player controlled marines from the tree tops. Its tough to master the character, but its super fun once you learn how to control the character with ease.

Iv said it before, if you are going into this game for the single player, you might as well just skip it. Its a real let down in that dept.

Yea definitely. U can beat all 3 campaigns in 2 sittings.

Ok, finished all 3 campaigns. The Marine's is definitely the best, since it has that Aliens Movie feel and it's the only campaign with any sort of narrative. Followed by the Alien campaign and lastly the Predator campaign. The Alien and Predator campaign falls flat because you're really just playing from the creature's POV, with no real story development by showing cutscenes of the people that are involved in the events. It's just you, as an Alien or Predator, doing your thing.

It's like the equivalent of watching AvP:R. You got some neat action to watch, but you don't really give a damn about the story.

Oh, and I don't buy the excuse anymore that iron sights aren't needed, because the combat is too fast. There were a ton of moments during the SP where I could've needed the iron sights for proper aim, because the Aliens weren't exactly in a hurry.

their ranking system should do more than just unlock skins, it should unlock weapons and abilities, or at least have the skins be more different than just in appearance. Small things like varying taunts, or have taunts for preds and marines, would have been appreciated. For the preds, have different looking but basically the same weapons. The smart disc could get a new skin to look like that ninja star from AVP, or the spear could be bulkier like in Predator 2, or the plasma casters could shoot slightly differently in concern with sound and color.

Matchmaking can take a while, but i dont have any problems finding people and playing in full games. Its just that the matchmaking takes like twice as long as other mp games iv played.

The human AI might be ****, but the Alien AI is pretty good. Well, not on normal, but I'm playing hard now and it's a lot tougher.

HMV give a 21 day refund on items, although I think games are not included in this. I managed it because I live in the city, right near the shop. The same person who served me gave me my refund and it was less than an hour between visits. Also, I had the luck of no plastic wrapping - it was one of those where they have the empty box and have the disk and booklet in a drawer behind the counter. No questions asked.

Well I really, really tried to like this game...I REALLY did but it's just not happening. So, I'll be trading it in tomorrow since EB is doing the "Additional 50% on any trade ins" until the 14th of March.

Hopefully Gearbox does better (I'm sure they will) with C.M.
