New Aliens vs Predator

So, for what system are people gonna get this? I still have a sucky PC so the PS3 is my only choice.

If its an FPS, its 360 all day every day for me, but i still want to hear more on that Colonial Marines game. Hopefully once this game is out the door, more info will start rolling in.

This might be of interest for PC gamers. I heard it was a very big deal that Modern Warfare 2 didn't support dedicated servers. Many were worried that AvP3 wouldn't have dedicated servers either, but it's been now confirmed that AvP3 will in fact support dedicated servers.

I'll get it for PC, too.
Still couldn't afford a PS3, but, the way I'm playing all the games on PC, I'm not sure I should.

Anyone else really digging this?

I like the sound of the Predator vs Group of Marines mode.

Yet again, stupid conservatives wont leave violent video games alone.

Video games don't kill people! Stupid people kill people!:hehe:

Rebellion won't release 'sanitized' AvP in Australia

by James Ransom-Wiley { Dec 4th 2009 at 10:53AM }

In a statement released this morning by Rebellion's Jason Kingsley, concerning the Australian Classification Board's so-called "ban" of Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator game, the CEO expressed his studio's disappointment with the board's ruling, but added, "as we understand the law in that country the authorities had no choice as we agree strongly that our game is not suitable for game players who are not adults."

The subtle swipe at the Australian ratings system, which tops out at an MA15+ classification, turned into a full-on blow as Kingsley concluded, "We will not be releasing a sanitized or cut down version for territories where adults are not considered by their governments to be able to make their own entertainment choices."

Ouch! You feel that too, Germany? "It is for adults," Kingsley insisted of AvP, "and it is bloody and frightening, that was our intent." Clearly, that's why PEGI assigned an 18-rating. Check out the box art for PAL territories that will release the game -- for adults -- come February 2010 worldwide:
Aliens vs. Predator banned in Australia
on 12.04.2009, Jim Sterling

Here we go again! Aliens vs. Predator has been refused classification by Australia's ratings board, becoming the latest victim of General Attorny Michael Atkinson and his pathetic refusal to allow an adult rating for videogames in the country. Interestingly, I have never heard of the Aliens or Predator movies ever getting banned, despite having more or less the same content.

In Germany, Sega chose to pre-empt the predictable banning shenanigans by not even bothering to try getting the game rated. Apparently Sega fancied its chances in Australia, but it appears the attempt to get a classification has been a big waste of time. I don't know why publishers even patronize Australia by trying anymore.

In any case, it seems that Australians will have to become criminals again in order to play a simple videogame. Thank you, Michael Atkinson, for essentially raising the crime rate in your country by forcing law-abiding gamers to break the law. Hit the jump the OFLC's official summary of the game.

Characters can be stabbed with a Predator's wrist blade or an Alien's tail in depictions reminiscent of impalement. The Predator collects 'trophies' by explicitly ripping off human heads, their spinal columns dangling from severed necks. Heads can be twisted completely around in order to break a character's neck. Eyes can be stabbed through or gouged, leaving empty, bloodied eye sockets.

It is noted that a player is able to combine manoeuvres together in quick succession, which further increases impact; for example, a Predator can stab a character through both eyes with its wrist blade and rip off their head, with spinal column still attached. Extensive post-mortem damage, including decapitation and dismemberment, is also possible.

It's strange. Apparently Australia rates movies for adults, but their game ratings end at MA15+.

but their game ratings end at MA15+.

They got some really f***ed up rating system for video games.

I mean, do they have the mentality that video games are not for adults or something??? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Wow....I'm sold. Seriously, the Marine and Alien campaigns could suck...as long as the Predator is awesome I could careless.

It's a wonder Australia lets any console other then Nintendo consoles in their country.

I just checked out the videos for the game on IGN and Gamespot.

I think this game will be f****ng awesome!!!! :awesome::up:

Hey Australia...IT'S A ****ING VIDEO GAME!

We shouldn't be so harsh on Australia. Kotaku posted an article, and apparently it's because of one single person, why games don't go beyond a MA15+ rating.

Long story short. That games aren't being rated beyond MA15+, was a law that was passed long ago. Of course Laws can be changed and 5 out of 6 people wouldn't have a problem with allowing adult games in Australia. But the new Law can't be passed until all 6 of them agree. But the last guy is simply one stubborn son of a *****.

Here's the entire article.
