New Aliens vs Predator

Im really excited for this game. I cant wait to play through the campaigns and try out those other online game modes.

I'll pobably be playing Predator Hunt most of the time. It was a lot of fun to play when we were able to communicate that 1 picks the Predator and the rest would work together as Marines.

Yep. Tried to log in this morning to get some matches in, and I waited for close to 10 minutes trying to find a live game. I'll try again later today.

Yea I admit I will be weary with this game, but I think I'm going to wait for way more reviews. I mean playing the multiplayer has been addicting and fun as hell. To me I read that review...I really don't think he even played the multiplayer. And reading him say the Predator stuff was too.....stealthy? How can stealth be a low unless your just a ******ed "I can only play COD bang bang stuff". Additionally he said its too linear....and yet he praised Modern Warfare 2?....the most linear game period. That and he says he does not like the Alien because it climbs on walls? And makes him dizzy? Okay to me it sounds like this guy is a 2 year old who has never played an AvP game ever. Because all of those things are part of AvP and always have been.

I never usually rip on reviewers because its opinion, but this one seems to be a biased uninformed one. If more reviews are like this maybe he just worded it horribly. But from all the hands on....sounds like everyone is addicted to the MP.

Some one on AVP Galaxy said what I thought...remember OXM when the chick gave Dead Space a 6/10 because of how it played? I just don't see this game getting that low of a grade....7-9 out of 10's maybe. I could be wrong, but all of the positive buzz of hands on and demos from critics seems to speak that it won't get that low.

Too me it just sounded like he had already made up his mind going in that he wasn't a fan so he just tossed together a one page review and moved on. Those of us who are Alien and Predator fans will look at it from a totally different perspective. I usually never mess with multiplayer and this is the first game in a long while that makes me want to.

Well this is what is irritating me anymore about the "editorial" types on magazines/internet sites anymore. Not many of them have "variety gamers" anymore. I have seen the decline of reveiws in the past 5 years...more like 7 but it seems now so many reviewers are any dumb college student that plays Halo they yank of the street. It seems so many of these reviewwers, love the same crap again and again.

I'm not going to lie, I love CoD they are fun games, but first their single player is crap, and Modren Warfare 2 was honestly more like an expansion set then a new game. Which I'm not saying is bad. But it seems some of these "next generation" reviewers are not really gamers. They are gamers that play one genre of one type of game...shooters. So if its Killzone, or Halo, or Gears of War, or CoD...they will praise it and never dock it points for having no original or new ideas.

To me its the bane of gaming, where so many are accepting just repetitive same old easy "grinding shooting" as I call it. It just seems so many are not into games that try to do things differently. Even if slightly.

This game may very well not be the best package, but I kinda doubt it. To me it seems like this guy is a CoD/Halo only player, he played something different and was annoyed being pulled away from his beloved Call of Duty. So he just threw together something and compared it to a completely different game.

I very well could be wrong about this review, but all his lows.....don't seem like lows. I could understand if the gameplay sucked, and was buggy and short. But....he hates the Predators because its stealthy? Ummm did he see the movies? And stealth is my favorite thing to do. But oh well lets see some more reviews before I kick myself in the butt.

My thoughts exactly. Granted I hate CoD so I'm always eager to see an FPS that mixes things up.

To me the FPS genre has not gone forwards since the original Half-Life. To me its gone backwards. FPS's having lots of different weaponry that did crazy stuff, instead of like today....its all machine guns/shotguns. No challenge in them anymore. No incredible boss fights, short single player, they use to be around 20 hours long...now your lucky to get 6 or 8. No challenge with "regeneration health" back in the day sometimes games would get tough because you had 24 health left and no med kits around. It added challenge.

Now it just seems the new wave of gamers have nothing to compare to so they are content with the same old cookie cutter of FPS's being released again and again and again. I hope that starts to change around.

I'm so stoked for Heavy Rain, but to see so many say its bad because there's no excessive shooting....to me its just sad.

Wow Game Informer just lost some of my respect. That is just stupid...

This game is amazing and is a breath of fresh air to the FPS multiplayer.

The only down side to this demo is the fact that its hard to find games. If anyone has a PS3 and wants to rage up some multiplayer tonight my PSN ID is RESISTANCE61513. My friends list might be full...so send me a message.

We should get a big hype party going tonight.

My buddy has had no luck getting games on PSN so I guess there aren't as many people playing it on PS3 as they were on 360.

I'm surprised Game informer gave it such a crappy rating since I usually agree with the there reviews. The demo has been fun an its done what it was suppose to do which was wet my apatite for more.

I read the article on N4G. Its a poorly written review. As you read you get this constant sense that the reviewer simply sucked at the game and didn't want to take the time to learn the mechanics.

He says the melee combat is frustrating and that the environments are dull and lack atmosphere....

I don't know what game he was playing but this is by far one of the scariest multiplayer games I've ever played. Can't wait for its release.

Ok, that settles it. The reviewer has never seen any of the Alien films nor the Predator films.

How is having the motion tracker going off only for you to turn around and not see anything because its effing above you not frighting?

I think it makes it even worse! You're constantly hearing this beeping and its frustrating to look around and not see anything. It adds to the overall experience! The reviewer is just stupid.

The beeping makes multiplayer a blast when being a Marine. I hate hearing the beeping and not being able to see anything. Then...boom...I have a blade or tail through my chest!

Well the motion detector has been a part of the AvP games for a while. So even still it needs to be there because it worked well and was well received in the older games.

The bleeping obviously increases as they get closer like a heartbeat highlighting tension. He might as well be calling Alien/Aliens movies themselves crap. Knowing something is coming before hand by using a mechanic like sound is underused in video games I think. It's generally the player getting startled by something jumping out in a "boo!" fashion.

It´s Rebellion....fricking Rebellion...one of the worst developers there is, maker of "amazing" games like Rogue Warrior and ShellShock 2: Blood Trails.
Why would anyone expect this game to be any good is beyond me.
The game might be great and the reviewer totally dumb, but there is 80% of it being the biggest pile of crap to grace the industry since....err.....Rogue Warrior.
So, i´m not the slightest surprised, i kept saying this since i found out that Rebellion was making this game.

The best in the world for the people at Rebellion, but they really need to close the studio or start anew, becasue, at this point, they suck

I have never played Rogue Warrior, so I don't know how much it sucked. And according to some people on AvPGalaxy, the game was developed by another group within Rebellion. Even if it would be the same group, I wouldn't care, because so far the demo is a blast.

And I haven't read the review myself, but complaining that the Predator is too stealthy, the Alien's gameplay is disorienting or that the Marine's motion detector is annoying, a AvP game review can't get much ****tier.

I´m not big on MP, so, i played it just for 10 minutes or less.
Then again, i played the MP demo for Bad Company 2 for 45 minutes or more, so.....

For starters, i think you need to do some more research on the Rebellion/Rogue Warrior situation. You cant name a developer that could take what Rebellion was given and turn that into a quality game.

2nd, you are aware that Rebellion is responsible for the original critically and fan acclaimed Aliens vs Predator aren't you? Or are you just choosing to ignore that fact in order to support your judgement that you made before we ever saw the game in motion?

Im not ready to crown this title yet, as iv only played one game mode of the many game modes that the title will offer. I havent played any of the campaign. However, from the amount of content that i have played i can say the game plays quite well. Sure the Alien is disorienting, the first 2 or 3 times you use him, and it should be, how many games feature a character like the xenomorph? It should take some time to get adjusted to the unique character.

Finally, as others have pointed out, we aren't upset over the final score, i mean after all its the guys opinion, but we are upset over the content of his review. Too much stealth for the Predator? Motion tracker is annoying for the Marine because it beeps? C'mon man, any one can see there are some glaring problems with the review based off of just those two complaints.

Also, 10 minutes with the demo isnt enough time to even familiarize yourself with the controls, for any of the characters.
