well that was a real kick in the balls. Half of it is wasted showing us teaser posters we've already seen(and what the rest of the movie going world will eventually see in their theaters BEFORE this trailer hits theaters). The music sucked, and completely changed the tone from what was given off in the last one, which seemed more like a gritty, but fun noir/action/comic book film. Maybe it's just me, but the use of pop music(as in music performed by bands) really killed it. It seems they're pissing on The Octopus as well. A Master of disguise is one thing. Hiding your face from the world is one thing. Dressing up in as many colorful costumes as you can just because you can, and having no gripes about showing your face, is a different thing entirely. Sure, in the sequels they can cast someone else as The Octopus to reinforce the disguise elements, but it's been disappointment after disappointment hasn't it? "Maybe they'll digitally make the Spirit blue" Nope. "Maybe they'll digitally black out The Octopus's face" So far? Nope.
That said, i've become VERY disappointed with this film. It no longer looks like Eisner's work. At All. It's Frank Miller. And where i'd be excited on the flip-side because of that(as i do tend to enjoy anything Miller does, just because it's him), such is not the case with this film. I wanted to see WILL EISNER'S SPIRIT. Not Frank Miller's. He can do all the fancy angles and copy comic panels that he wants, he's still failed at adapting WILL EISNER'S character. To hell with what Miller's said. Give me nostalgia. Give me colorful, blue suits that take me back to another time, give me mystery, action and suspense and make it a freakin' 1940's period piece(because face it, period pieces kick ass). Give me 2 hours of fun. And for 10 bucks a ticket at my movie theater, quality and fun is all i want.
