News has broken out that Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles has been scrapped due to script issues.

Now, is it possible that they'll make a new live action film? Totally!

Maybe this time they'll do MUTANT ninja turtles, but who knows....its Hollywood haha!

This thread is for:

COWABUNGA!

They just need to do a full R-rated Eastman and Laird style Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and gives the directing rights to Guillermo Del Toro.

He could do some serious business with the Turtles.

Hmmmm...I don't know about a Ninja Turtles film being R-rated.

TMNT is meant for a more "younger" generation. But you could still make a darker film while still being PG-13.

Question is: What would be the origin?

Well if you read the original comic books, they pushed the boundaires of R rated material and while there would be NO WAY that a now Nickelodeon owned product would create an R rated live action film, it would just be my ultimate fanboy wish. I loved those original comics and it's another reason why the 1990 film is so epic because it blends both the comic books and cartoon series together so effortless almost. It was the perfect mix.

I would love to see them do a live action sort of adaptation of the "City at Way" story arc that was in the comics in the early to mid 90s.

Well I've never read the originals, but it sounds like something I would love reading! Love R-Rated Gritty!

In a few hours, i'll post a fan cast.

The thing is, what made TMNT popular to most people is the likable characters, and just the... silliness of the concept and the fun they had with it (cool toys too).

Nothing wrong with some mature elements, but an R Rated film? Not going to happen. PG-13 is as far as I can see them going. You can strike a good balance of fun and seriousness.

What I would suggest is keeping what the original show did by having Splinter and Yoshi be the same person, and then focusing more on his backstory as a ninja. Which obviously ties the Shredder into the plot more.

And if we're throwing around ideas, how about making the turtles different sizes? Even from medium to medium, the turtles' size has changed (a lot), but they are always the same size in relation to each other. Make them more physically distinct.

Oh I know they'd only go for a PG-13 rating, that's as far as they'd ever push it. Again, it's just a personal dream of mine for them to push it even further.

Yeah or like diffrent shades of green or physique differences.

Here's my design for Raphael! This is what all the turtles would look like except for height differences and different shades of green.

Posting fan cast in a few minutes! :woot::woot::woot:

Leonardo: The Leader
Andrew Garfield
I think Andrew has got the voice of a leader like Leo. He's one of the best young actors in Hollywood today and he's Spider-Man, so he should be used to the hero thing by now. But anyway Andrew is my choice for Leo.

Raphael: The Bad Ass
Garrett Hedlund
Garrett has a great voice and can do different accents pretty well. I know he can definately do the Brooklyn accent that Raph has.

Donatello: The Brains
Donald Glover
I love Donald Glover. Hilarious man! I think he can bring the comedic and serious tone that Donatello has to the big screen.

Michaelangelo: The Wild One
Anton Yelchin
Anton has a great voice as well. He can bring that comedic South California accent to the big screen that Mikey has!

Splinter
George Takei
George is awesome! Especially when he was Mr. Sulu. George has that voice that I think Splinter should have.

Shredder
Ian Anthony Dale
Ian is a pretty sweet actor. Loved him as Scorpion in Mortal Kombat: Rebirth. If you add a bit of make up to make him look older, you got Shredder.

Baxter Stockman
Chiwel Ejiofor
Very talented actor. Would love to see him tackle a role like Stockman.

Casey Jones
Sam Witwer
Sam Witwer is also really talented. He's my favorite for the role.

April O'Neal
Minka Kelly
Minka Kelly...smoking babe! Anyway, Minka is a good actress and I've always thought of her as April.

I too would want to see it become a rated R movie, but one that has fun with the material and has some humor (but no facebook or internet jokes).

The special effects have to be done with men in suits with animatronic heads. The eyes could be done with CGI.

Design: I would want each turtle to come from a different species. Leonardo would be the one with the most traditional design, but with a more realistic texture and paint.

None of them would have three fingers or two toes. They would have an anatomically correct number of digits.

Donatello would be the heaviest of the group-- something between what is above and the image below.

Michaelangelo would be the most ripped and lean; while Raphael would fall between Leonardo and Donatello in size.

Story: The story would begin in the present and explain that a mutagenic serum was used to activate junk DNA in animals to make them humanoid and intelligent. "Splinter" was a special agent that was on a mission to retrieve evidence of illegal genetic engineering from the facilities where the serum was being researched. The mission failed and he was caught. They injected him with an anti-serum which turned him into a rat-man. Splinter escapes and grabs four turtles that have been exposed to the serum. The story would pick up 13 years from now; with the turtles as teenagers.

Splinter raises the turtles in the abandoned underworld of New York and trains them in the martial arts.

Enemies: The turtles face the Foot Clan, led by the "Shredder." The turtles find out that the Foot stole the ooze years before Splinter's failed infiltration, and the Shredder created three mutants-- Rocksteady, Bebop, and Usagi (a white rabbit with samurai swords). The glory of stealing from criminals (the illegal bioengineering labs) is that they bury the crime. With the sequel it would be revealed that Shredder has created more than just three mutants.

The Shredder character can only be compared to a genetic terrorist-- a Dr. Moreau on the island of Manhattan. Shredder would be presented as a well dressed Japanese man, and would only wear his Samurai armor, or at least the helm, when he faces the turtles in the end.

The Foot Clan would be presented as traditional ninjas in all black.

Theme: Where the original film was about toxic waste; the theme here is the danger genetic modification. It's not a future of flying cars, laser pistols, or super cities-- it's a future with genetically engineered sentient turtles living in the sewers.

Michaelangelo would be the most ripped and lean; while Raphael would fall between Leonardo and Donatello in size.

Story: The story would take place ten years from now and explain that a mutagenic serum was used to activate junk DNA in animals to make them humanoid and intelligent. "Master Splinter" was a special agent that was on a mission to retrieve evidence of illegal genetic engineering from the facilities where the serum was being researched. The mission failed and he was caught. They injected him with an anti-serum which turned him into a rat-man. Splinter escapes and grabs four turtles that have been exposed to the serum.

Sounds pretty good, except for the Usagi Part. Miyamoto Usagi isn't a mutant, but a humanoid rabbit from another dimension of humanoid animals. Plus, he was created by Stan Saki, not Eastman or Laird, and would probably have to be used with permission, so I doubt he would appear in a Ninja Turtles movie. Although, I would love to see a Usagi Yojimbo movie based on his comic book adventures.

If Usagi appeared in the film; he would simply be a mutant. If he can't be used; then something original can be created like a tiger character.

How about Bebop, Rocksteady, and a more intelligent ,viscious version or Tokka and Rahza ? Then it would be Splinter's 4 against Shredder's 4 mutants, or better yet, throw Slash into the mix.

4 on 4 sounds great.

Also, I would love to see the Turtles in a modern world like what thorstone suggested, but not flying car era, just where technology is becoming greater.

Im going to post my own little story description in a little bit.

Alien Story:

This is 12 years from now. The Foot Clan is moderized.

Martial artist, Hudamo "Splinter" Yoshi is wanted by the Foot Clan due to his "betrayal". He's forced into hiding in the sewers of New York. One night while looking for food in the alleyways, Splinter sees a mini ship flying through the air. It starts coming his way and crashes into the alley. The little rocket opens up and shows four baby turtles the size of normal babies. They're all different shades of green.

As Splinter pulls them out, an orb hovers out. He touches it and suddenly, images of the turtles and their planet fill his head. But then, the orb causes Splinter to turn into a giant rat, due to his enviorment in the sewers. Splinter teaches the turtles martial arts so that he can help get the streets of crime cleaned.

Regular Story:

The same thing except for the ship and orb. To get help to fight against the Foot, Splinter goes into a science facility to find his old apprentices.

The Foot ambushes him, killing his apprentices. As he tries to escape, the Foot throw him in a vat of rat mutagen (Rat DNA in chemical form.) They believe he's dead, but he actually mutates into a giant rat! He finds 4 humanoid baby turtles and escapes. He trains them in martial arts.

As you can see, some parts of the regular story are apart of thorstone's because I really liked it!

Sequel ideas: The Foot return with Rocksteady, Bebop, and new mutants. Potential candiates for new mutants include Leatherhead and Slash.

Leatherhead_by_WonderDookie.jpg

The sequel would involve Baxter Stockman. Stockman would test a new serum on himself hoping to become a super human, and it results in his devolution into an arthropod humanoid; nightmarish and insane.

Stockman would be a force of nature in the film; like the Joker in the Dark Knight. He would hold no allegiances.

I can dig that. I've always liked Fred Wolf's Evil Cajun Alligator Leatherhead better than Mirage's Bipolar Croc. And Slash would be awesome, but only if it's the badass Archie version and not the stupid Cartoon version.

Ill cast these guys for the turtles they can even voice the characters themselves and their fights would look exceptional compare to CGI fighting.

Donnie Yen [YT]119rJSY5G0g[/YT]
Michael Jai White [YT]xjQpVXnABv0[/YT]
Scott Adkins [YT]l_OHCjZnT4A[/YT]
Jon Foo [YT]eo8HVJ5vNJI[/YT]

This is inspired by the new cartoon and is my attempt at explaining the "alien" origin:

The utroms and triceratons were at war; the utroms fled to our universe and went to Earth to test their latest bio-organic weapon, the ooze. They came to Earth because an utrom agent on Earth had previously provided the utroms with numerous lab specimens (among them were the turtles). The life forms on Earth reacted perfectly to the ooze.

The leader of the Utroms contacts the Foot Clan to act as their agents. First film could the the Foot seeking out the turtles while Shredder tries to settle his feud with Splinter. The second film could have Shredder sell the utroms out to the triceratons.

The triceratons send in agents to begin recruiting within the gangs of New York. So you get City at War, with utroms and triceratons pulling the strings. I'd like the third film to go into the mysticism of the 4Kids series (prior to the Flash Forward or whatever its called).

The triceratons could be reserved for the third film and only revealed in the ending to not simply be the next phase in mutants but rather the descendants of Earth's dinosaurs, opening the door for a cosmic sequel (with or without the turtles).
