New Interview(Podcast) w/Simon Kinberg.

Q: "Will you guys work together again?"

A: "Maybe in X4 where we kill the rest of the characters."

An actual quote, lol. It was an interesting listen. There was certainly a lot of politics going on behind the scenes. The Rogue fans will be happy to know a scene was shot where she didn't take the cure.

That's assuming that there aren't any Rogue fans that are already happy with her taking the cure... :o

Apparantly the two possibilities where up in the air until a few weeks before the release. They felt that Rogue taking the cure was more of a statement. Something that would get people talking more so than if she hadn't taken it.

The death of Cyclops was pretty much an executive decision. Originally they didn't even want him in the film at all. He was going to have died between the films.

And the executives never wanted the Phoenix saga in the movie either, though quite how they couldn't do that after they'd set it up in the second.

When was this interview recorded? They mentioned recording the DVD commentary.

I hate FOX. If we didn't have the phoenix saga in this movie, Famke wouldn't have come back...

Eat me you ...little Foxrunts!

great to know that Fox didnt even want Phoenix in the movie, they wanted only another "Magneto vs X-men" and that they filmed Rogue NOT taking the cure  great, WONDERFUL!

i'd pay the same eight times i payed to watch X2, to see an X3 version from Singer :(

you know what I think. I think the actors should have waited. you know? Im sure they all wanted to do this with Singer, but I think they too should have waited and maybe stood up to Fox... Fox could have just went along with the wolverine spin off. get that underway and then once singer was done superman, he gets the rest of the cast back and we'll have our x3/x4. They should have waited.... i wish they did :( ...

Fox didn't want to wait, Halle didn't want to wait, and Hugh possibly wanted to do another X-Men as well. Fox wanted to beat Superman Returns to the theater and that's all Rothman cared about.

Everyone had some kind of ulterior motive. Halle, while a good/decent actress, wanted to do some saving face after the fiasco that is Catwoman(CINO).

Hugh, while he is a great actor and talented, needed something to do after that disappointing Van Helsing(While it was a good movie), it performed in disappointing fashion at the box office.

Rothman and Fox? Well, we all know how they are.

yeah yeah yeah. I know that. but still...

Fox didn't want the Phoenix saga in the first place, thats bullS***.

Well if they felt that way they shouldn't have approved of it, so they put themselves in a corner.

They have no one to blame but themselves(Fox that is).

I doubt FOX will be too upset with the way things panned out. The movie may not have received fantastic reviews, which it had the potential to do, but it pulled in over $200 domestic. That's enough for FOX not to learn from their mistakes.

Good point, it's probable that they didn't learn and are just sitting there counting the cash while flipping off the fanboys on the internet. :(

That's not exactly true. While "Van Helsing" wasn't a big smash, he'd been doing a Broadway show at the time which he won a Tony for and was getting amazing critical acclaim. He went straight from the B'way show and filmed "The Fountain," and was in between a Woody Allen film ("Scoop") and a Christopher Nolan film ("The Prestige") when he filmed X3.

And what Fox should have done was sign everyone up for 3 movies from the start. They didn't want to re-negotiate with everyone after the success of the first two films, because it would cost them a fortune.

Then again, and I'm not absolving them (I used to work for them, it was a miserable experience)...I've also wondered why they decided to end with the Dark Phoenix tease at the end of X2, when they had to know what a runaround they were going to get from the studio about a sequel. It's not like Fox was so gracious with them over the first two films.

fox made this movie built around their future spin-off movies wolverine and magneto, who provided stellar performances.

dammit i loved X3 but in the words of my man Dave Chapelle: Fox is *****n Up
