It's cool she liked it and all but I don't really know how much praise this is as she isn't familiar with the Transformers concept in which case no in depth analysis and comparisons could take place.

I almost envy you then. You can take all good reviews and get more excited by them. However it looks like I will have to wait till July 3rd before I get reviews from G1/Transformers fans.

Well she can judge the movie on it's own merits and not how it lives up to a 20 year old cartoon.

In the Decepticons corner the stand out robots are a bunch of weird little Decepticons assistants that complain under their breath, very funny passive aggressive little things and you can’t help but laugh at them.

How about we all **** off with the " Im a G1 Fan and i dont like this because ......" and just decide for ouselves if we liked this movie or not ?
ppl just cannot make their own minds up these days.
If all the G1 fans dont like it but the REST OF THE WORLD does, who's opinion is gonna matter most to you ?

QUESTION!... Will Prime and Megatron have a huge brawl in the final showdown!? We haven't heard **** about wether or not that'll happen!

I'd be most disappointed (seeing how Megatron is only in the movie for the last 40 minutes or so), if him and Prime doesn't have a big battle! Wouldn't you fans feel the same way? Do you think we'll see it?

They do. It's in the leaked script and mentioned in some early reviews.

Yeah I know that but it just isn't about living up to a 20 year old cartoon is it? As with Spider-Man and any other comic book movie this film needs to have characters acting in a way fans know.

Look, I am looking forward to this movie massively, I seriously can't wait to watch it but I would be more at ease if I knew a Transformers fan who had seen and loved it.

For Movie Blog regulars, you know that I've been pissing myself about Transformers ever since it was announced. You'll also know that the most outspoken nay-sayer (I don't mean that in a derogatory manner) around here about the film has been regular commenter "Alfie". Well, this just shocked me so much I had to post it here.

Apparently Alfie also saw the film this weekend, and in the comments thread on Sharon's Transformers review, he left his impressions. Here are some excerpts:

I have always like kevin dunn so it is always good to see him on the bigscreen.


What the hell??? This is probably the biggest endorsement of Transformers to date. You know what's going to happen now right?? I'll end up being disappointed with Transformers, and Alfie and I will be debating from the opposite sides that we were on before the film came out..

Just gotta say, congrats on winning ALL of the critics over thus far.

Said it before, I'll say it again- Shia's the one actor from his generation that I see making it in hollywood and an actor who will easily transition from the "every teen" to "every man."

My guess right now- highest RT rating for a summer blockbuster, or at least second highest RT rating.

Are you guys kidding? RT is going to tear this up. Michael Bay's highest rating at RT is with The Rock...which was 11 years ago...and it only scored a 63%. Be realistic people. Critics LOVE to HATE Bay.

Yeah... consistent 33% and C minus's is pretty bad. I have a feeling that if critics DO like this movie, they will lay all credit on Steven Spielberg not Michael Bay.

Because that would be the equivalent of Social Promotion for directors. I don't think even this movie's strongest defenders believe it will be a Ridley Scott "Gladiator" type tour-de-force.

For CFlash? Probably yes.

For me and most likely the "masses" (general public) hell no, we just want a good fun ride that is a very enjoyable film to watch.

One review that I think will also be great is Ebert. He looks at films critically as what they are aiming for and whether or not it succeeds at that. TF never aimed to be a film to make it to the academy awards. And so far from these reviews, it looks like TF has definitely succeeded in being a great fun adventure and action film.
