New Sonic game revealed

After seeing how badly Sega has ****ed out the Sonic brand in recent years, it's kind of hard for me to get excited about a new game... Especially when the last game, which was supposed to be the climactic re-launch of the brand, turned out to be one great big uninspired suckfest. However, this new game's different approach of using oldschool 2D gameplay for portions of the levels looks like it could freshen things up a bit. I'll keep my eyes on this one.

Im skeptical as Sega's multiplatform work has sucked. I think they should focus on remaking old Sonic games for the PSN and XBLA. I would love to see a 2D Sonic 3 with updated HD graphics and semi 3d gameplay. I think they should do to their Sonic series what Capcom is doing to Bionic Commando and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are all I need. Anything outside of that just ends up being extra baggage-- or worse, a flat out annoyance (I'm looking at you, Shadow...)

I actually LOOOOOOOVED Sonic Adventure of the Dreamcast. THAT GAME ROCKED!!!!

I'd just say do that, and I'd be happy.

BUT I WOULD LOVE 'SONIC 3' AND 'SONIC AND KNUCKLES' ON XBL ARCADE!!! I would buy them in a FLASSSSSH

Enough with Sonic!!! Why can't SEGA come out with a Shinobi game to rival Ninja Gaiden or a new Space Harrier, Altered Beast and Thunderblade game??

At least we're (us life long SEGA fanatics) getting Golden Axe.

I dunno. The gameplay looks great, but so did the first videos for Sonic PS3/360 so it is hard to get excited.

If Shadow is in this game then I will probably not buy it. I hope that Sega has finally realized that he is the physical embodiment of everything that people have grown to hate about the Sonic games.

god...I hope they get it right this time...Sonic is one of my all-time faves and this video has me really stoked but Sonic Team really alienated me with SONIC (PS3/360) so I'm in a tough spot. That game was just awful...I got to Silver's part and just had to stop and return the game immediately (it was a rental...the review made me think twice). It was just so bad...the slowdowns and the loadtimes were really distracting...not to mention the subpar graphics.

Sonic Adventure was awesome... and a pretty good rep of what 3D sonic needs to be... Platforming is great and all, but unless it's integrated into a great deal of speed... we don't have anything. Mindless rail surfing is NOT the way to go, either.

If they could swing all those different moves into variations and tools to enhance sonic's speed, something done pretty well with the relatively ugly items of Sonic Adventure, then we'd be able to play on Sonic's strengths and still stay 3D. Sonic's strengths have NEVER been in his supporting cast, and if that's your goal, you should almost certainly tap the IMMENSE and WELL DEVELOPED supporting cast from Archie's Sonic comic books, cuz dang, they've got a history of the universe, something that seems to change every sonic game.

Both Sonic and Silver, and any other spectacularly uninventive and derivative fanfic-like hedgehogs should just be written off... or used as villains... or roboticized and used as villains... actually... that last one could be kind of fun...

I did. I had a lot of fun with it because I'm a huge sonic fan and I actually spent the time to get all the chaos emeralds in those rediculously hard bonus stages...but overall I don't think is was a great game. Definitely not comparable to Sonic Adventure 1 & 2
