I've been thinking about how certain villains could be used in these movies and I'm guessing you all have plenty of your own thoughts. I'm suprised there isn't already a thread on this topic.

So....how would you portray the rogues gallery in the Nolan style? I have ideas I like for Ivy, Bane, Scarface and Killer Croc but I'd like to hear others first. Even Freeze can be done to fit the movies imo. Alot of people on other boards think the Mad Hatter would be a nice choice, and then there's Robin waaay down the line :woot:

I should clarify that I'm assuming most of us neither expect or desire these movies to be crammed with villains, and it's unlikely there'll be a major new villain (other than Two-Face) introduced for the third movie. Which means there isn't much room for anything else other than support roles or cameos. So this thread is just for musing, with possible speculation to minor roles in number three. If you you want we can pretend (hope!)that a fourth film will continue what Nolan has begun.

I guess the basic differences are no supernatural stuff or outright absurd biological abilities or technologies, and no ridiculous costumes. These are dark and realistic versions of the rogues gallery (if 'realistic' is the right word...you might prefer 'serious' or 'not Burton' or 'not gay'). Change the dressings as long as the basic motive and reflection stays the same, yada yadda :whatever:

i think the villians i want to see and think a nolan twist to it would be good are catwoman,ivy,two-face,penguin and riddler

well i think this thread has been done over 155 times, but it still is an interesting thread never the less

nolans style is as real as can be so the only "super" villains that are going to apear in his movies are Joker in TDK and Two Face in pt 3, but other side villans are going to be like mobsters like the falcones in begins

Bane will be a body building champion from guatemala who gets arrested for taking a whole bunch of steroids. Then the Joker breaks out of prison and takes him with as a henchman.

Even if Bane was done right, he still seems to be a one-dimenision character to be used as a sole villian. TDK and the 3rd movie's villians seem set. Outside of Joker and Two-Face I wonder who else could carry the movie as the antagonist?

A Mad Hatter Movie could be interesting but I wonder if the subject matter would be good for a PG-13 film series that is bound to draw in more kids the 2nd and 3rd time around.

Also, I would be in favor of the Riddler if done more in the style and tone of John Doe in Se7en.

Also, even though he was used in BB, I still think they could do a Scarecrow movie that with the gas used by the villian, could be use to justify designing as a bizarre pyschological thiller. Technical Scarecrow didn't show up until the end and only then with Rachel and not Batman.

Also I would love to see a cat and mouse type of movie, kind of like The Bourne Movies, by introducing Kane the Assassin and maybe Black Mask who hires Kane to assassinate key figures in Gotham including both Bruce Wayne and Batman.

If Bane is done right, it could be fantastic. I see him in a team-up/betrayal/power struggle conflict with the Penguin. There were a lot of missed opportunities in Mystery of the Batwoman. I'd like to do a similar story, but make it a little darker and flesh out the villains more.

Mad Hatter is a gold mine waiting to happen, but not if they go with the pedophile angle. Never liked that. Keep him as a mind-controller and you've got story opportunities falling out of available orifaces

Also, I would be in favor of the Riddler if done more in the style and tone of John Doe in Se7en.
Haven't seen Se7en, but I would like a dangerously intelligent and methodically obsessed riddler instead of a flamboyant one.

I don't know if she could be considered a villain (although lately she has been portrayed as such in DC comcis) but I would love to see how Nolan would handle the Love/Distrust relationship with Talia and Batman.

As well as have it intertwine with her "loyalties" to her father, a Lazurs pit resurrected Ras Al Ghul !

This could be some of the best heartfelt drama in a Batman movie ever.

i dont think bane is a well enough/well known character for the movies well neither was crane but he's better storywise

I want to see the villains done the way they're supposed to be done, not altered to fit Nolan's sensibilities. If he can't work with them as they are in the comics or TAS, he shouldn't be making a comic book film.

Yeah, that would be excellent to see!

Well, I would like to see Scarecrow in one of the first Batman scenes. I can imagine foorchase and then a short fight between them

While you are watching this movie, imagine if it was adapted as a Batman film.

The possibilities will blow your mind.

I think any villain can work in Nolan's universe really.

Poison Ivy- Crazy environmentalist-hippie gone bad who dons a Amazonian-like green outfit or boustierre with green garters.

Penguin- A pointy nose bird-like fat businessman who wears a tuxedo and tophat or either a black trenchcoat and bowler. He can still snarl like he does, have the monacle, and unsightly features, but lose the webbed hands and the penguin-like walk.

Riddler- Mad bomber or Jigsaw/John Doe from "Seven"-type serial killer who plants traps and puzzles. Wears a green bowler hat, green tuxedo, purple tie with a black question mark on the front, purple gloves, and purple sunglasses.

Two-Face- Looks like a cross between Darkman & "BTAS" 's Two-Face. Wears a half black and half white suitcoat with black pants and black suade shoes.

Bane- Musclebound henchman/assassin to Rupert Thorne.

Black Mask- Wears a black mask that looks like a charred up skull.

Killer Croc- Henchman to Penguin. Born with a skin-defect making his skin gray and scaly Croc served as a freakshow/circus performer before turning into a coldblooded killer.

Clayface- "BTAS" version.

Mr. Freeze- "BTAS" version.

Firefly- Flamethrower weilding, armor-suited villain with a jetpack stolen from Wayne Enterprises.

Harley Quinn- "BTAS" version.

Mad Hatter- "BTAS" version.

Manbat- Dr. Langstrom is obsessed with Batman so he creates a serum to become his own Batman. He fails and thus you know the rest.

SEVEN IS A GOOD MOVIE BUT I PREDICTED THE ENDING SO I DON'T SEE WHAT"S THE BIG DEAL. SEVEN ALSO DOESN"T HAVE ENOUGH ACTION IF YOU WANT TO ADD A DETECTIVE ELEMENT TO BATMAN BEGINS I WOULD ADD THE BONE COLLECTOR OR THE USUAL SUSPECTS SOMETHING BAD ASS AND WITH DEPTH AS WELL AS THEATRICALY ENTERTAINING AFTER ALL IT IS A BATMAN FILM. I THINK THEY CAN USE KGBEAST IN THE FILM AS AN ASSASIN HIRED TO TAKE OUT BATMAN BECAUSE BATMAN FOILED RUPERT THORN"ES PLANS. NOLANIZED OF COURSE. I DON'T WANT TO SEE CATWOMAN OR RIDDLER OR PENGUIN THEY WERE ALREADY USED. I want to see something original I think I would like to see MadHatter but in a frieghtning way like jack the ripper instead of a comical non serious approach. Remember now we need more villains that's actualy physical threatening to Batman so here are my villains that I think it could work well being NOLANIZED:

DeadShot
DeathStroke
Firefly
LadyShiva
David Cain
Electrocutioner (Could make an interesting storyline)

All those characters could be done realisticly most of them are masters of the martial arts and highly skilled assasins.

For side villains I would like:

Lew Moxon (Could be used for the third one after all he did order the hit on the waynes)

The Hangman
Holiday

So you use there's alot of Batman villains that should be introduced that can be done realisticly.

 I like all of those ideas. That would definitely work in Nolan's world.

the villans that they already have in place i think will work out the best

i think there are three other villans that would work well in a nolan movie, being Penguin, Riddler and Catwomen, but i don't know what storyline is going to be good enough to justify putting those villans in it after the strong storyline 3 is more then likely to have with two face

Let Jim Carey give the Riddler another go. But only if he does it like the character he's playing in the upcoming "The Number 23". You can find the trailer on Yahoo!movies. Looks creepy. And Jim Carey is someone I've always thought would be great as someone who was totally evil.

Ronny --

It's nice to agree with you again.

Hatter with the BTAS storyline would add some much need fantasy to the franchise. I've been wanting it for a while:up:

Never thought I'd say this, but I hnoestly think that's something that should be left in the cartoons. At least the whole "subjects dress up as fairy-tale characters" part. I MUCH prefer the pedophile-like behavior he had shown. It makes the obsession with Alice that much darker and twisted.
