With an improved d-pad.

Controllers haven't always been this expensive have they? Like how much was a PS2 or Gamecube controller back in 2003 or so?

It comes with the play and charge kit.

$20-$30 maybe? This is just typical of MS. People have complained forever that the D-Pad sucks, especially for fighters. So what do they do? They don't revamp the regular controlers, they bring out an entirely new one that is $30 extra.

Edit: Even with a play and charge kit, it is still too expensive.

I play one fighter. I don't need an improved d pad.

That's stupidly expensive, so much so that even though I hate the D-pad on the current controllers I won't be getting this.

Controllers have been this expensive for as long as I remember. Wow, every little thing people just want to jump all over MS. Holy crap settle down. It's that expensive cuz it comes with the play and charge kit. Normally the controllers are like 40 bucks but are more expensive when you include the kit.

See, you answered yourself.
The controller should never be bundled with something the majority don´t want or need.
That stupidity right there, that´s greed in it´s purest form

The Microsoft brand of the wireless controller has always been $50 and the wired controllers are $40. So if it comes with the play and charge kit, then it's actually a savings of about $10. The play and charge kit alone is $20. So if you do the simple math, then you are saving $10 on the combo. It's not like this is something new. Every manufacturer does it. When a new product comes out, the price is high because it's new. Yes, I understand that eventually the prices go down on new "stuff", and in this case it most likely WON'T go down. Microsoft, like BOSE, has a universal pricing system. HOWEVER, if Wal Mart, for example, pays a set amount of money to a company like Microsoft or BOSE, then Wal Mart can offer a discount on that product. So don't act like it's just a Microsoft thing. Plus the news of XBL going up $10 a year was announced a couple of days ago. But you know why Microsoft and other manufacturers do this? Because they can and they know that people may complain, but in the end they won't lose any business over this. It's a smart business move, IMO. Why do companies exist in the first place? To make a profit. They aren't in it just to make people happy. I'm not coming to the defense of Microsoft, I'm coming to the defense of the retail industry. It is what it is and people will still buy.

I dont see why ppl are freaking out all of a sudden. You do all realize thats the same price as the current controller with the play and charge kit. The price isnt going up.

The play and charge kit is pretty damn handy. You have the option of either forking out 30 bux for a battery pack charger, or you can keep spending money on Duracell batteries every time ur controller dies, or you can just use that PaC kit.

I do wish they just offered the controller sans PaC kit tho, as i dont need it because i have a batt pack charger.

Who the hell says the majority doesn't need it or want it? Where do you get your facts from, besides out of your ass i mean?

Do you know if that's the ONLY way they will be selling it? That is kind of dumb if they do. Seems like you would want to offer more than one option.

This works just as well as a PAC kit, since the PAC is basically rechargeable batteries wrapped in plastic anyways. And I don't know where you guys are buying your controllers from if you are paying $40-$50 for them. That's just crazy.

Yea i dont see them selling it without that. They did the same thing with the red colored controller and if im not mistaken you still cant get that controller sans the PaC kit.

If i ever get one of these controllers, ill just put the PaC kit up on eBay.

I am just talking about the officially licensed controllers that are bought at Wal Mart, Sears, Kmart, Target, Gamestop, etc.

Not everyone likes to order from the internet. If you need a new controller now, Amazon wont help you out.

I agree tho, if i ever get any kind of accessory, i usually head to Amazon. Iv purchased my most recent controller from there and it was like 20 bux cheaper total.

I also recommend here. I have bought a ton of things from them and they are awesome.

WOW!! Thanks for the link! I knew that places like this existed, but not everyone buys from the internet and would rather go to the local retail store and just buy it there. I'm like you though, I would much rather purchase online.

I never buy stuff like this from a retail store. Too expensive. The place I linked to is great. My friend bought a refurb 360 from them last year and has had zero issues. They upgrade their refurbs with a custom cooling system and have a 90 day warranty. I am going to upgrade through them at the end of the year. My old Pro seems to be getting louder and louder everytime I boot it up. I'm a bit nervous it is on it's last leg.

Go to Major Nelson´s blog, read the comments and see for yourself

Ohhhh.....touchy, touchy.
Are you sleeping with Steve Ballmer or something?
Don´t be a *****e

"I do wish".....You b**ch about what i wrote, and then agree with me
Are you drunk or something?
And before you say something mind-blowing like "I don´t represent the majority", know this, every time someone has an opinion about anything, you should bare in mind that there are thousands with the same one.
The decision of having the new controller bundled is stupid, there is no other way around it.
At least sell it separately as well
The thing was, someone at Microsoft needed to find a way to sell the kit to win the knife set, so....

From an aesthetic point of view, I don't like that they got rid of the colored buttons.

Meh. I wont be buying a new 360 controller. I've already got my custom painted 360 controller :word:

Controllers have been expensive for years. PS3 controllers are about 55 after tax, same with the 360 controllers (even with the Play and Charge kit). This is just another case of "if you think it's to expensive...don't buy it."

Seriously, I don't get gamers sometime. Microsoft isn't forcing ANYONE to buy this, or any other controller. If you want it, it's there. Chances are if you're seriously into fighters you already have the 150 dollar plus fight sticks...
