New Year's Resolutions: What Are Urs?

Aren't New Years Resolutions kind of a meaningless gesture, since most people pick the goal every year and forget all about it within a month? Sure it's all "I'm gonna lose some weight" on January 1st, but you're eating an entire large pizza and drinking a 6-pack of beer by January 20th.

If you're gonna set a goal for yourself, don't pick some arbitrary date like the first of the year to start it. Buckle down and resolve to do something when you're ready to resolve to do it.

Well there are a lot of people who do. The past three years resolutions though I've sort of accomplsihed.

2008 - I said I'd run a marathon, I signed up and started training, but injured my achilles tendon in a freak accident, so I couldn't accomplish it.

2009 - Since my achilles was healed, kept the same goal and ran two full marathons

2010 - Wanted to do a triathlon, had some things going on in the spring that got me away from swimming, but did do a running and biking biathlon type event, so got 2 out of the 3 in.

Not sure what I'll set for this year, I cancelled my gym membership so don't have access to a pool to train for a tri, maybe train for a fall one. Definitely going to start included more core exercises in my marathon training. Already working on that by adding a little at the end of my runs these days.

I don't bother making New Year's resolutions...I find that if there's something I really want to change or do, I just decide randomly throughout the year.

To not run away.

Yeah, that is a good one, I would just get started on that right away.
I have opted for that one for a while now, and y'know, it feels good to have these things in life you think you can't handle or think are too much for you, which you used to walk away from, and to just walk right into them and take control. Once you get them done you feel real good about yourself.

It is true and is something that I definitely want to obtain for 2011. It's not just work, it's pretty much everything. :-/

The things I loved to do are just becoming further out of reach.

If anything my New years resolution should be to come out of my comfort zone more often and to say YES more often, rather than no. (Obviously depending upon the situation)

I want to get the rest of my storyboards done and start filming.
Also, got my training gear, so time to lose weight. Joining five aside football thing every week. Also going to the gym.

the title of this thread bothers me

-Decide if I wanna continue this course at Uni I'm doing, or change it to something else (this means I'd have to start over, starting next year)
-Get a driving licence
-Get my first job ever

I have 2 New Years resolutions. One is to stop drinking spirits, it's getting out of hand. The other is to try and be happy. I feel like I've spent too much of 2010 moping around.

I have a fair few real resolutions including:

- Sorting out all of my medical problems and to do something with this anxiety trouble
- Read more books and watch more films
- Be more sociable and initiate events rather than waiting for them to happen
- Be more decisive. Don't use maybe, always a firm yes or no.
- Lose weight sensibly. Even if it is 1lb or a few stone, do it the proper way, not the way you used to, which is cutting out meals.
- Seize the day. I.e. not spending it sitting on a laptop or moping in my room.
- Find a way of lightening the mood without the need for alcohol. (I don't drink much, but sometimes I feel alcohol lightens the mood, unfortunately.)
- Be more constructive. Make more films, gain more experience, graduate and hopefully by the end of the year, be in the film industry in some capacity, whether big or small.
- Oh and last one...initiate conversation, be more confident and smile.

Lots and lots, I know but hopefully I'll keep to some of them.

Just one thing.
Pass this quarter with at least 3.0 gpa.

I plan to use the letters "Y" and "O" more often, as well as utilizing proper capitalization on a regular basis.

Pass me next semester with a 4.0

Be less forward with others at Anthrocon even if they are unwilling.

Get back into exercising.
