New York Comic Book Stores

I'm visiting New York and would like to know of any stores that specialise in comic, film and sci fi merc. I'm familar with Forbidden Planet and the store next to the Empire State Building but I'm interested in finding more. Any hidden gems or any shops usually missed by tourists that sell collectables and memorabilia.

Specific directions or addresses would be most appreciated.

There's a Cosmic Comics on 23rd and 6th avenue. And there's a Forbidden Planet store somewhere in Union Square, but I forget exactly where.

Midtown is one of the best shops I've ever been in.

Ah, I've so gotta go to the FP in New York. I love my local one and wherever I am around the country I still manage to find another.

There is Midtown Comics on 40th and 7th or 45th and lexington. if you create a free account there anytime u reach 100 dollars you get 20 dollars in store credit.

Forbidden Planet is located on 14th and Broadway near Union Square. there is a virgin megastore and a movie theatre in the vicinity of it.

Another one i frequent is Jim Hanley's Universe located on West 33rd St off of 5tn AVe. its actually right across from the empire state building.


Those are some of my regular spots but im sure there are many more. (Gee is it sad that i remembered the streets and such for all those without having to look them up? ....)

I only went to Midtown Comics when I went to NYC 2 years ago. It was a great experience.

I'm going back to NYC next summer...so yeah I like this thread. :}

Those are pretty much the only ones I know of. Except for like.. East Village Comic, but that place is lame.
