NO...Oh God no! [Virus?]

How will I be able to know what power supply I need?

I wanna try and replace the power supply myself. What are some good replacement tutorials for PC noobs that I can look at online?

I opened it up and I wrote this down:

-Raidmax Model No. RX-380K
-(KY-480ATX) ATX 12V
-Total Power 380W

What does this mean? What do I need to get?

Ahh screw it. I trust Newegg. I'll order it from them and get a fast shipping rate. I feel naked and mentally distraught without my PC.

my computer restarted for second time already. It's probably due for another.:cmad:

$30 for 2nd Day shipping is probably cheaper than getting an equivalent in stores. I've read so many power supply tutorials, I'm ready to get started!

I'll keep you guys posted!

HELP!

I changed my power supply and it's still not working!

It started for like 3 seconds and then it shut off and I can't get it to start again.

It will only boot up on its own after a minute or so and shuts off after a few seconds...It'll keep doing this until I disconnect the power cord.

You cheeky bastard...

Anyways, did you ever get yours to work again?

I reseated the RAM and cleared/short the BIOS/CMOS RAM pins and there was no change in mine. Could it possibly be just a short in the power switch or something?

Ive had a virus on my computer once, the worst it did was not allow me to connect to the internet.REALLY bad viruses actually take control of the computer itself, like in your case.Get it checked out.

Did you checked the CPU fan, TNC9852002? It doesn't sound like that could be the problem, it usually just hangs the system... But, it's very usual that the fan gets jammed with some of the cables from the power supply. Open the computer, and start it and check if the fan is working...

He asked how to boot up into safe mode, I'm not sure if this has been answered so...

1. You should print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut your computer down in step 2.

2. Click Start, click Shut Down, and then, in the drop-down list, click Shut down.

3. In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.

4. When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.

5. Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER.

6. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

All of the fans seem to be working just fine.

Nope. The PC won't stay on for more than 3 seconds, remember? I can't boot up to safe mode at all.

I cleaned out the wads of dirt/dust behind my fan and it's been working ok thus far.
What did you use to clean it?

I'm going to take it to the shop on Monday. I've run out of options and I'm not going to continue to guess and check. I don't want to make anything worse or waste more time and money.

I've already scheduled a very expensive appointment with the geek squad... :(

With the money I'm paying them, they better be able to figure out exactly what's wrong because I've been told it could be everything. First the power supply, then the memory, the hard drive, the CPU, the motherboard. Ugh. I can't take the running around anymore.

Careful with Geeksquad. They have no qualms about downloading any of your information [pics, porn, ect] for their own personal use. I'm not saying they're all like that, but be warned nonetheless.

I use a flash drive for the porn and all the the other stuff is sent to photobucket. But I'm well aware of what those little freaks will do to your computer if you're not careful. :cmad:
