The Dark Knight Nolan: "Running time comparable to the first film's 140 minutes"

Meanwhile early word on "The Dark Knight" is that Chris Nolan's cut clocks in at nearly three hours and it's unlikely to be cut down much further despite the studio's desire for a more manageable 150 minutes. Nolan's "Batman Begins" came in at 140 minutes so a slightly longer runtime for the sequel doesn't seem surprising and the immaculately conceived Devin Faraci over at CHUD thinks that, and I tend to agree, it'll probably come in at about 165 mins.

Responses to the articles have been interesting in that many seem surprisingly concerned about the Indy runtime, yet have absolutely no problem with a three-hour Batman. Very early buzz on Indy already warns to 'keep your expectations in check'.

Hopefully this is the "Lord of the Rings" of superhero films. :woot:

But hopefully not with the pacing of the last half hour of ROTK. It went by sooo sloooowly - I wanted to go in and shove Frodo into the stupid boat.

But with Two-Face making an appearance, I highly doubt that will happen. :hehe:

hang on....am i hearing this right?

the dark knight is going to be three hours long?

three hours?

woohoo!

3 hours, please!!!!!!!!:wow:

Nearly 3 hours?! I cannot wait for this movie, i'm so excited I can throw up!!!

Hell yea, 165 minutes. Though I still wonder if it will be around 150, but the more TDK the better.

Man if that is the case, which it seems to be, give us more trailers lol.

This is awesome...with good pacing, I hope it's close to that.

Yeah I was worried about the pacing, since we know that there's gonna be A LOT of plot squeezed into one film, so it's good that they're letting it be on the long side.

Not sure about the news of Indy being so long though. TDK, it's understandable since it's this epic character drama on top of being an action film, and Indy is mostly supposed to be just fun. And simple fun tends to lose some of its luster when it goes on too long. :oldrazz:

I think it's going to be a fairly straight-forward task for Nolan to "squeeze everything in". Let's take a look at Batman Begins:

- Death of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
- Training to become Batman.
- Battling Rah's Al Ghul.
- Returning to Gotham.
- Donning the Batsuit and Batmobile.
- Discovering the Bat-cave.
- Establishing relationship with Gordon.
- Battle with Scarecrow.
- Battle with Falcone.
- End battle with Rah's Al Ghul.
- Batmobile chase.
- Batman setting on fire and being knocked out for two days.
- Bruce retaining the rights to buy Wayne Enterprises.
- Wayne Manor being burned to smithereens.
- Portraying Gotham as a corrupt and vile city.
- Rachel Dawes.

See what I mean? Nolan should have no problem in handling Maroni, Joker and Dent.

Wow, this day has been so boring..but now I'm excited. Yay *noob cheer*

That'd be nice, but CHUD is unreliable, so it's not going to happen.

They can be bad sometimes, but they have been right lots of times as well. And if DH is reporting this as well, I trust it even more so.

Hope it's true!!!!!!!111one1

Yea nice to see a fellow Bat fan that is a MGS fan as well. Got my MGO beta key ready to go. ;)

But yet this seems some what reliable. It will be interesting. But at least it will be around 145 minutes. But it very well may be longer.

Three hours?

That would be truly glorious.
