Sequels Northstar Casting Thread

Just on a whim, who would you cast as Northstar, flying speedster and iconic gay superhero? The list is by no means complete or great. It's a very short list of brunnetes and openly gay actors.

My pick would be for Sean Maher from Firefly.

(Edit: Sorry! Instead of Cilian Murphy, whom might make a good Essex, I meant to put "Other". Feel free to suggest!!)

I don't think it has to be a gay actor. There is a gay actor playing a main character already. But, if I had to choose a gay actor to play him, I'd choose Matt Bomer.

By the way, Wentworth Miller is openly gay.

I could see Matt Bomer delivering some humorous sarcasm or irony to the character based on a few interviews, definitely. I could also see Zac Efron in the role. I wouldn't have thought it.

He'd work great on either film or TV and there's a growing audience for the gay/lesbian genre that I think Fox should man up to bite into.

Thing is theres more "important" characters we havent seen yet or havent appear in years. like Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Dazzler, Marrow, Polaris, Sunfire, Forge and Cannonball.

I don't have any ideas for casting, but I would definitely be up for Northstar appearing, maybe in Wolverine's movie as part of Alpha Flight. I agree with psylockolussus… but I would put priority on introducing Cable and bringing Nightcrawler and Angel back first. And I know he's a villain but… Mr. Sinister. Once I get Cable and Sinister, I will have all my priority X-characters on film.

Maybe Stryfe too for an X-Force sequel, but I'm indifferent on everyone else.

I don't feel strongly one way or the other about homosexuality but if having Northstar in a larger role brings $$$ to the theaters he needs to be cast asap

The thing is Fox already has that audience because the LGBT community identifies with X-Men.

Casting Northstar would just be a way of giving back to them by making the first openly gay superheroes or tran heroes on screen. It's also controversial and unexplored territory!

If it does happen though, I think they should make his beau Latin American. We've already had Storm and Bishop as iconic black characters, but the only Latino we've seen (Sunspot) didn't really stand out, so maybe they could have Northstar date a Hispanic! win-win! latinas would definitely pay for that!

I still think that Quicksilver in DoFP should have been Northstar. The character could have had the same personality and everything, but we wouldn't have all these questions about him being Magneto's son. And we'd have an 80s gay kid! Fun!

In hindsight, this might have made more sense, considering the other version in Avengers.

But I do think a gay angel would be an appropriate way to say that, yes, God loves the gays, too, just as they are.

I've always thought quicksilver might be gay or bi. I guess because he always had that outsider thing plus his bad relationship with his dad.
