Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

HBO Max Cancels Animated Series Despite New Season Being Completely Finished

"According to the trade Little Ellen is yet another project that is set to be written off by the newly formed Warner Bros. Discovery, seemingly done for the tax benefits of scrapping the show entirely rather than attempting to recoup costs by releasing it."

So that's one female led superhero film and one female led animated show about a young Ellen Degeneres. And Harley Quinn, bisexual, is most likely getting canceled. Not a good look for WBD.

After much endurance, I've now learned to just never get excited for anything DC related in the future. It should be everyone's coping mechanism by this point. :o

I just don’t see how they are going to attract the right talent. I’m not saying actors can’t do both Marvel and DC but most well known actors who would do a CBM have already been in a comic book movie at this point.

It's like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Everytime these 10 Year plans have 1 setback, they panic and reset everything. That is why they fail in the end. Part of it is execution, sure. But if you are always changing your plan, then you just have no plan.

So I will believe this new plan when I see it in action and stick to it

There’s tons of great actors who aren’t that well known. I think those are the level that would be even more concerned about how a nearly finished film got outright cancelled though.

Also this is why the MCU works. Just because Eternals isn’t widely loved and doesn’t make much, it makes no difference to the grand plan and everything continues to release as normal. Just because they get the rights to F4 and X-Men, there’s no need to rush them in as they are confident in the plan they had in place prior to getting the rights.

Even Eternals is evidently getting a sequel! Cause Feige sticks to the plan!

Sony made the same mistake when releasing ASM2 and announcing we would get a new Spider-Man related movie every 2 years. It’s ridiculous.

Thought I was the only one who knew about that quote. Very apropos here.

For me it's probably even more important than it is to most and definitely to most of the GA. I love spending years speculating with fellow fans on what we might get - it has made the experience of following CBMs 20 times more fun. But at the end of those years I want to see the final product whether it be good or bad (and have all the follow up discussions with the same people). I don't mind if a film gets cancelled early on (or even it it gets put on streaming), but pulling it at the final hurdle is a bit much - and I could understand if it was a reason like someone died or anything sensitive like that, not just for efficient tax strategy!

On and assuming we get full confirmation of Eternals 2, I have a good feeling about it that it will be significantly better and more crowd-pleasing and I'm really pulling for Chloe Zhao and the cast to get a big win.

I am very hopeful for Eternals 2. I liked Eternals, but I think why most found it boring was it took 90 mins to get the band back together and reintroduce everyone into the story. I don't see that being an issue next time

I feel the MCU has suffered recently by following “the plan”. I don’t think there’s a big audience for an Eternals 2. But then Thor 2 ruined that franchise and Thor 3 reinvented it. So if they go “off plan” like that, then we’re in more interesting territory…

At this point, most of the new characters introduced people aren’t falling in love with. That’s where they have to up their game.

Thor 2 and 3 had different people behind, though, which why the latter primarily worked as a "reinvention".

Yeah, that for sure and general pacing issues with all the jumping about in history, although I enjoyed the historical parts. I hope it gets confirmed soon.

I have hope for Eternals 2. If they can improve on things that didn’t work with the first one then I’m good with it. Now that GotG is ending, Eternals can fill in that cosmic void

It's hard to find a rare gem like RDJ Tony Stark who can push a whole cinematic universe forward from the moment they appear. Most of the other original Avengers weren't outright loved first time out. Cap saw a massive boost in popularity after Winter Soldier, Thor after Ragnarok, Hulk with Avengers although then it wasn't consistent after that. Hawkeye had to wait till his own show lol. I think with the sequels of the new characters and the team films we might start getting there - hopefully anyway.

I thought there were plans for a more cosmic focus going forward too? Cap Marvel and hopefully Nova soon could help too. I also don't expect all the Guardians to be gone for good and wouldn't be surprised by individual appearances here and there even if the team isn't operating anymore.

I don’t want a direct Eternals sequel but wouldn’t mind seeing them interact with other heroes

Maybe they can make a Westeros-themed 90-day Fiance where half the episodes end in a Red Wedding style massacre.
Zaslav would gladly see a few hundred of his creatives and customers massacred Red Wedding style, IF it was tax efficient.
