Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

Don't really see how they dropped the ball at all really. They still have a great list of content for a day 1 launch.

Yeah I spent like 30 minutes just scrolling through all their movies.

And I haven't really checked the Twitter chatter, but has there been any major tech issues?

Good that Comcast has come on board.

But HBO Max really needs to sort things out and broker a deal so that the service is on Roku and Amazon Fire stick.

Not going to lie, this is a pretty mixed bag of offerings. On one hand, they have a great assortment of Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, films (Harry Potter) and obviously HBO's hit shows. What they seem to be missing out of the gate are most of the DC content which is shocking. I understand they want to not follow in Disney's footsteps and launch their entire library with hardly any original content, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Also, I'm forced to watch this on my 1080p Apple TV because they still don't have a deal with Amazon.

It’s got to be some licensing issue with the lack of DC movies. Hopefully we’ll start seeing the Nolan TDK movies and MOS on there in the coming months.

I guess what’s disappointing to me is that they had put out a list of Day 1 Launch titles and the ones I was looking forward to didn’t end up actually being on there. Most likely licensing issues.

I hope they start adding all the Hanna-Barbera toons sooner than later.

I imagine they're waiting for deals to expire then it'll transfer to HBO Max in the coming months.

I think DC Universe's original content will migrate to HBO Max and they will turn it into a comic book subscription service similar to Marvel Unlimited.

Thank God the HBO Max mobile app lets you download shows and movies. It annoyed the hell out of me that HBO Go didn't/doesn't allow that.

Yeah, it's a head scratcher why they didn't work those out right away.

I'm confused with the deal with Apple TV. I can see HBO Max in my Apple TV phone app (albeit the interface is limited and not as pretty as the original HBO Max interface) so I figured if you go to Apple TV through your Amazon Fire stick then you can access HBO Max too? But I tried it on my TV and I couldn't see HBO Max (just HBO Go).

What really surprises me is V for Vendetta not appearing. We live in an ideal time to have a 4K release about an authoritarian government infringing on people’s civil liberties. Also, it deserves the Watchmen tv series treatment.

Disney+ problems at launch? Too many people trying to use it.

HBO MAX? Don't actually have places to watch it.

Seriously, I can't get on this thing. It's annoying. I want to watch Doom Patrol and Anna Kendrick! Does FC have access considering the Roku situation? I know she was big on this.

I didn’t realize they had Rurouni Kenshin!
So that got taken off Netflix? Well, that would be fine if I could get on this!!! :argh:

By the way, if you are a fan of RK and haven't seen them, may I suggest the live action film adaptations. They are probably my favorite anime adaptations and just really great in general imo. Even the dub is pretty fantastic. Sadly the last two films which were suppose to come out this summer got delayed until next spring.

Oooohhhh.... Where can I watch them?! I got hooked on anime during HS and I think I've even seen a RK anime film (was there one? IDK maybe I just imagined it) back then but I think I've moved to a different phase/obsession by the time the live action films came out but now I'm feeling nostalgic and finding myself watching them again.

Has anybody went ahead and worked this yet?

Yeah I don’t think that would work. HBO Max isn’t available on fire tv even if you try to access it through the Apple TV app since you’re still using a fire tv device.

I'm glad I found the app on my Samsung tv, I wouldn't want to use my PlayStation for it.

They even have Hoop Dreams on here. I haven’t seen that in ages. Klute, Les Diaboliques, Lady Snowblood, this has everything.

I kinda wish Disney+ followed their format. I mean I love it as is, but if they included more Touchstone/20th Century Fox adult movies on their service like this one has the mix of kid/adult content then they would’ve really kicked even more ass.

ETA: I notice a lot of 20th Century movies are on here also. Explains why Disney+ couldn’t give these movies to us on their service.

I think Funimation has the streaming rights, though you can probably rent them else where. I have been checking Crunchyroll, but haven't found anything.

And you are right, there were a few animated films/OVAs for Samurai X! :hehe:

I'm probably way behind the curve on this but is that DC app (that didn't come out here) getting folded into HBO Max?
