Dropping the “HBO” and just calling it Max is the stupidest thing they could have done. HBO is the name everyone knows, and they clearly understand this, hence the whole “the one to watch for HBO” thing.

As Snow pointed out earlier, this very well maybe a HBO call. Apparently there were a lot of objection to having their named tainted by the Discovery content. Same with some of the Max originals themselves.

That's when Discovery Max/WB Max and the return of HBO Go would have happened.

It just seems wildly out of character to me for Zaslav and co. to make a branding decision based on execs he clearly doesn't respect not wanting to be associated with Discovery content.

I agree. But I also doubt that's how they approached it. Instread, they probably made him think it was a good idea. So, they Successioned his ass.

So they nuked the navigation bar... Only options are SEARCH and MY STUFF. No navigation by genre, no list of what's leaving at the end of the month. Just pure chaos.

I genuinely wonder how many older folk who probably had their kids/grandkids sent up HBO Max for them, will be lost with Max, which beyond having a worse UI, has to be installed separately.

So learned that the new Max app isn't supported by all devices yet, so when people go to download the new app as prompted it's a dead link.
