Film Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

General Film
Well someone in the WW thread pointed out that China really didnt even like the first one that much either and that it made 90 mill in 2017 based on curiosity. So maybe regardless of the pandemic WW84 was always destined to do worse.

Issa joke. I wasn't being serious. Hence the ninja smilie

Every movie released to theaters since March was/is gonna do worse. Due to less people going to the theaters right now in general and other COVID related reasons. Which is why it's stupid and delusional to say things like "_______ movie flopped this year. That means people don't wanna see (insert movie type here)" like people tried to do with TENET

:csad: At least it’s some money back and hopefully it helps HBO Max as well. I really want more WW (hopefully without a compromised budget).

I think getting more WW is a safe bet. Same with maybe Suicide Squad if it gets really good reviews.

MonsterVerse, Dune, Space Jam, and even maybe The Matrix? I'm not so sure about

Yep, there is no real benchmark to know whether something is flopping or doing gangbusters under virus conditions. One film being released in a different month can mean we’re in tier 4 while some other countries are free to go to the cinema and vice versa in a different month. For all we know Tenet did well in the circumstances given what potential box office was on offer.

Well strap in boys and the girls because the press is gonna have a field day with headlines when the movie “only” rakes in 200 mill world wide total.

Damn WW84, is underperforming in China

According to the logic of some in this thread (saying TENET flopped proved that people aren't interested in cerebral sci-fi) I guess Chinese audiences don't wanna see SH movies anymore :ninja:

This is pandemic related but also related to the theatrical/hybrid release model which will undoubtedly leading to bootlegging. This is the elephant in the room that few people seem to be mentioning. Why should Chinese audiences rush out to see WW84 in theaters now when they will have access to a pristine HD bootleg within a week or so that they can watch at home?

I care as WW is one of my favourite characters and they seem to have a great director/lead so I want them to take advantage while they can. Hopefully the next Suicide Squad is much better.

Dune is going to hurt. :csad:

I was joking. I thought the smilie would make it clear but I guess not

Jenkins did say she was out after the third movie and WW is so well liked I'd be surprised if they don't make a third. Even with a "poor" box office

WW3 is getting made. However, the fact that it'll be minimum of 4 years for it to come to theaters I find surprising.

Yeah, I’m certainly expecting a third and was hoping for more but Jenkins will already have given a lot by that point and it’s completely understandable for her to want to move on to new things. Maybe WB and Gal will be up for more?

Unless something else comes through for Gal I expect her to return of more WW. If Red Notice, Cleopatra, etc. blows up and she proves herself bigger than Wonder Woman? Then I'd say the chances of her returning are a less

As DC Universe inches closer to fully merging with HBO Max, they had Tom Taylor create this goodbye to the app as we know it.

They could film WW3 next year though, Jenkins has now had enough of a break. She could then film Rogue Squadron in 2022.

She isnt going to put Rogue Squadron on hold for WW3 esp since I dont think she is officially signed on for a WW3 yet. Disney will take precedence.

She wouldn't have to though. She could make both and hit the release dates if she wanted to.

If Patty does leave I don't see why they couldn't get one out for 2023. Last time a director left WW we got news of their replacement days later

Now if they could just put Batman: The Animated Series up on HBO Max I'd be golden.

Of course because they only know how to revive former hits...they looking into reviving Sex and The City sans Kim Catrell.

If that happens that'll be their 4th revival/reboot? Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, True Blood. A bit desperate.

With what screenplay? Gal is busy next year. Patty’s doing two projects before she even gets to another WW. It won’t happen next year. It won’t even happen the year after.
