Film Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

General Film
That was literally the first thing I did when HBO Max came out, so no judgement here. :funny:

If you’re looking for proper classics on Max, I recommend M, The 39 Steps, Modern Times, Cool Hand Luke, Foreign Correspondent, Giant, The Lady Vanishes, Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart At the River Styx or Baby Cart in Peril, The Maltese Falcon,The Man Who Knew Too Much, A Streetcar Named Desire, North by Northwest, Rashomon, Throne of Blood, Wings of Desire, Time Bandits and 12 Monkeys if there are any of those you haven’t seen.

Also, random, but I just found a great Galaxy Quest documentary on Prime.

Sadly, Hulu has the great 12 Monkeys series.

I freely admit, I am using HBO Max to watch trash. I am watching True Blood.

Season 1 is perfection as is the first half of Season 2. I might need to skip season 3. It was trash.
Season 4 was a good rebound though. I liked it
S3 was one of the worst seasons of anything I've ever watched, lol. But then S4 became my favorite season, tbh. So yeah, a heck of a rebound. Amazing what ditching one absolutely horrible character can do for a show. :hehe:

May 21!! Godzilla vs Kong! Just saw that trailer HBO Max released! Had some new footage too! Can’t wait

So as a relatively new HBO Max subscriber, I'm confused as to why the Alien movies are on there, since they're under FOX, which is owned by Disney now. Can anyone explain that? Edit: looks like there are a lot of FOX movies on HBO Max actually, not just the Alien franchise. Which is all the more confusing....

Anyway I find it flippin' awesome how many awesome sci-fi & horror movies are on HBO Max. That makes it possibly the greatest streaming service ever for me since they're my favorite genres. :) It's a bonus that pretty much all of DC's movies (from years past including the modern ones), including animated ones, are on there too.

Those Fox movies were licensed out to HBO years ago, before Disney bought Fox and before Disney or WB had a streaming service. Disney+ can't get them back until their licenses run out (unless they want to buy them back out). That's why they insisted on New Mutants getting a theatrical release - because if it went straight to streaming, their competitor would get it.

And yes, it's easily my favorite streaming service atm. Not just because of the genre stuff, but their selection of classic movies is also A+++.

Yup the amount of DC content on HBO Max is officially insane. Anyone who's a DC fan owes to himself (or herself) to sign up. Easily worth the price of admission. Although not everything that's ever been made (live-action & animated) is up there yet, I'd expect the back catalog to show up some day. They definitely need to get the rest of the DCAU Timmverse up there, some key series are missing (STAS and JL/JLU, since I saw BTAS and BB mentioned on previous pages). Static Shock is still over on DC Universe (I know because I still have that subscription) but I'd expect that to move over too. But for the most part, all of DC's classic 70s-90s movies are on there! Including some of the TV series too, but some stuff is missing (i.e. Lois & Clark and The Flash [90s]).

Some of the stuff I've seen that others might be interested in:
- Alien 1-4 and AvP movies, including Prometheus (but not Alien Covenant or the Predator standalones)
- Austin Powers movie series
- Die Hard 1-3
- Final Destination movie series
- Galaxy Quest
- Godzilla anthology (I'm assuming Toho? Have never seen these before)
- Jaws movie series
- Leprechaun movie series
- Lethal Weapon movie series
- Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie series
- Mars Attacks
- Terminator 3 and 4
- The Invisible Man 2020
- The Thing 1982
- Troll movie series
- Underwater (a pretty underrated sci-fi flick from early in 2020)

Now that DC Universe is ending in a few days, they're also about to get a massive influx of more DC content, including that Timmverse stuff (as you saw, BTAS and BB have already been announced for January, and we should assume that's just the beginning). The shows like Lois & Clark should follow soon as well, since that one and the rest are on DC Universe only 'til the Dec. 31st. I personally hope they get the old Superboy show up there soon, as they took that one and a handful of other shows off of DC Universe early on Dec. 18th, and I was right in the middle of watching that one for the first time, dammit, lol.

According to latest article in NY Times, DC Films will make TV series that will be interconnected with DCEU movies.

Also, few DC movies will be made exclusively for HBO Max.

Managing Movie Superheroes Is About to Get a Lot More Complicated

Sounds similar to what Disney are doing with Marvel films and shows. I’m up for it as long as they bring the quality all round. I’ll be a Max subscriber for life if so.

is the OC on HBO Max - I was hoping we‘ll get it on Star, since its a Fox series

Is this news? I mean...we already had that Peacemaker show that was announced that has John Cena reprising his role from The Suicide Squad(which is set in the DCEU).

Yeah and they're making some DC movies that will be screened only on HBO Max under the banner of DC Films.

Yeah I think the important news is that there will be HBO Max exclusive DC movies. I didn’t hear about that before.

I'm a big fan of HBO Max and the idea of 2 exclusives to the streaming service. so long as the majority, and especially films like The Batman, are theatrical.

I think the big budget ones should go theatrical but the mid range and smaller ones should go to the streaming service...similar to how Disney is doing theirs.
