Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

Does this mean future Dune projects can happen in a different studio or not at all? WBD are the worst...

I guess it's because Sony has an...odd track record when it comes to franchises. Something like the Monsterverse would do fine for either Paramount or Sony but I wouldn't trust Sony to not meddle with Dune.

Paramount is definitely the better choice, but they'd probably be fine with Sony considering Legendary does a lot of it themselves. I wouldn't worry too much about Dune, considering Sony co-produced Blade Runner 2049, so they know better than to get in Villeneuve's way.

I also forgot that Quentin Tarantino made the move to Sony with Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and they let him do his thing without interfering so I stand corrected.

Good work Zaslav. Alienate everybody have WB become a shell of its former self.

To be fair, the WB/Legendary relationship has been rocky for a while now.

Not likely. WB probably has right of first refusal

Legendary left and came back, right?

What I get from this, is WB is going to stop spending money on things they don't consider "guarantees". Oh, this is all going to suck so much...

I’m confused about Paramount because I thought they were going to pivot heavily toward streaming? Didn’t they bring in that guy from Nickelodeon to head it? Other than Tom Cruise movies I thought they would put their stuff to Paramount+ so that doesn’t really seem attractive for Legendary (especially after the day and date controversy they went through with WB last year).

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Maybe their strategy changed since pretty much all of their projects this year had big success in the box office. And one definitely more than the others.

What does this mean?
It just means that if another movie is made, WB will get the choice as to whether they want to distribute it or not. If they choose to not to, then it can go to whatever studio they end up partnering with.

I guess at least it's safe as a franchise. I wonder what it means for spin-offs like the Sisterhood show that is in development for Max.
