Now that Whedon has basically confirmed it, who now directs Wonder Woman?

Spielberg would be ideal given the new script but i doubt he'd do it,Ridley also seems a good choice and i like the mention of Zwick, hell JJ Abrams is someone i wouldn't mind seeing get a shot at WW but........

My bet: James Mcteague (who did V for Vendetta).

-He's worked with the studio before
-He's worked with Silver before
-Last movie for WB/Silver: well-received by critics, under budget and profitable
-Immediately available
-Inexpensive

This sounds realistic and a good option since he made the best comic book movie last year IMO

Ill toss in a few names:

Guillermo Del Toro (hellboy, blade2, pans labrynth)

Zack Snyder (300, dawn of the dead)

They both have an extreme sense of cool. Visual masterminds. They can take fantasy source material and ground it into realism. Strong female characters.

I like the V for Vendetta director choice for the same reasons as well.

I have to admit, the new script review doesn't half sound bad. The reviewer on LR also reviewed Batman Begins, Casino Royale and gave both top marks (even when people were skeptical about both at the time...), so the fact that he loved the WW script does bode well.

There's also unnamed sources at IESB which state that Joel Silver is REALLy impressed with this script - so much so that he's fast-tracked the film, got these writers onboard and will be naming a new director soon.

If true, you're looking at a director(s) with a link to Joel Silver and experience with comic-book movies.

The obvious choice is the Wachowskis. The reasons they WON'T do it are:-

(1) They're busy on Speed Racer, out summer 2008.

(2) They would write the script themselves, not direct someone else's.

The next obvious choice is James McTiegue (V for Vendetta), although there is the question of whether V was done by him, or the Wachowskis.

As for Zack Snyder (300), he's already got the next film prepped (Watchmen). I doubt he'd give that up for WW.

My number 1 guess / good choice: Francis Lawrence

(Constantine, I am Legend in Nov. 2007)

Unlike Snyder who's busy on Watchmen, he doesn't have a fixed film after IAL (though he's directing an animation film out this year). He's also got links with Silver, AND has proven he's capable of handling big-budget films, with solid characterisation. If IAL is a success in Nov. 2007, expect WW in holiday time 2009.

I can't believe no one has mentioned him yet, but it would be great if George Lucas directed Wonder Woman. But I know that won't happen.

I still can't belive he came in second in Colbert Report's green screen challenge.

I really liked the idea of Paul W. S. Anderson writing and directing WW, because of the Resident Evil movies.

Watch the first Matrix movie and look for scenes where we can tell Neo and Trinity have feelings for one another before Neo gets gunned down.
Then watch V for Vendetta for scenes where we can see Evey and V falling for each other.

McTeigue did that s***.

I can't believe no one has mentioned him yet, but it would be great if George Lucas directed Wonder Woman.
George Lucas directing Wonder Woman. I can see it now: Everything will be filmed in front of a green screen, Diana will speak in a half-assed English-esque accent, all actors will appear stiff and unlikeable, Steve and Diana will flat-out tell the audience what their emotions are rather than show them, and all Greek gods will be created through CGI.

James McTigue sounds like an excellent choice.

Ridley Scott would be the pipe-dream pick, like clamouring for Speilberg to do Superman.

Kathryn Bigelow

Great action director, the closest you can get to a real Wonder Woman and she comes at a good price, as her last boxoffice hit was Strange Days, 12 years ago.

I forgot about Bigelow.

Ridley Scott gets my vote currently for these reasons - Alien, Thelma and Louise, G.I. Jane. And Gladiator to an extent.

Yeah Ridley Scott is a great choice. He made the female characters strong and likeable in his films.

I absolutely LOVE Strange Days, but trust me on this one, it was NOT a hit. :D

Yeah it was a 40 million budget that had a limited release I think? And it made under 10 million. K-19: The Widowmaker bombed too.

hey i'm a Lucas fan. i'm also a Wonder Woman fan.

trust me when i say the two dont go well together.

I'm no longer sure George Lucas is right for STAR WARS...so definitely not WONDER WOMAN.

Get a woman to do it, Julie Taymor
