HOLLYWOOD - Outspoken television personality Rosie O'Donnell will leave daily talk show The View in June after failing to agree on a contract with ABC.

O'Donnell has constantly made front-page headlines with her opinions since her introduction last year on the popular show.

The 45-year-old former actress says, "My needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me.

"This has been an amazing experience and one I wouldn't have traded for the world."

The talk show, founded by seasoned journalist Barbara Walters, experienced a massive ratings boost when O'Donnell joined the cast of women who discuss current events and interview celebrities in front of millions of viewers.

In response to the announcement, Walters, who is thought to have constantly dealt with the consequences of O'Donnell's risqué statements, said, "I wanted Rosie to come back to television on The View even for just one year.

"She has given the program new vigor, new excitement and wonderful hours of television. I can only be grateful to her for this year."

Well well. Where's her next outlet of angry, man-hating spew going to be?

Babs and loud mouth Behar couldn't handle it.

lol....Donald jumped on that and said it was because the network wanted to get rid of her......bull****.....their ratings went up with a 1/2 million more viewers since she came on and there are reports that ABC wanted her back.....

And the children rejoiced.

Please, she got fired. This has been building up for months, and the straw that cracked the camel' back came last week at that dinner when she embarrassed the hell out of Walters with her comments. She is simply having the good sense to go out with dignity (for the first time in her life) as opposed to making a scene like Starr Jones did and as a result Walters will let her say she "quit".

Wasn't there another thing?

Trump came into posession of the ugh, black ensemble she wore in Exit to Eden and sent it to Walters and O'Donnel commented on it on the air, and Walters refused to talk about it.

She has no class and I think the whole daytime talk show she did was an act.

I for one am glad she is leaving, btw. All O'Donnell did was cause controversy to get attention. She isn't an impulsive loud mouth as her P.R. staff would like you to believe. Every single thing she says, be it picking fights with Donald Trump or claiming the US set up the British naval officers, every single thing she says is a calculated publicity stunt. Why? Because she is an attention ****e.

Has anyone heard her latest? She claimed that the World Trade Center was blown up, yet when Popular Mechanics made a point-by-point counter article with SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE all she could say is how they were wrong and she was right. She is a ***** and deserved it.

Isn't that the point? People love ridiculous loud mouths on TV, why the hell would anyone watch the View otherwise? It's just four women talking, other than to see stupid arguments and PR stunts. I mean I'm no fan of Rosie and god knows we don't need anyone buying into her opinions but it's the same principle as O'Reilly. I mean O'Reilly gets paid the big bucks to make an ass of himself, he does all this yelling and things because the right loves to see the "LEFT GET IT!" and the left love to have someone to ***** about... TV is all calculated... Right down to the survivor/reality shows with psychologists making sure they get a good batch for good drama. But I say good riddance, she isn't funny like O'Rielly when she's self-righteous, she's just annoying.

I think there are three essential differences...

1) As you said, O'Rielly, Franken, those likes can pull it off, O'Donnel just comes off as annoying.
2) O'Donnell tries to come off as almost a lovable oaf. Like she is just an average woman whose big mouth gets her into trouble from time to time. At least have the balls to admit what you are if you are going to be making the claims she does.
3) People like O'Rielly and Franken know where to draw the line. O'Donnell doesn't.

Bah I don't like Rosie enough to care or argue about it.....but Walters did deny Trump's claims, and that she did not participate in the renegotiations....

Ah... I've only seen clips on AOL, valid points.... There was a shocking time when I found out the woman who was plastered all over nickolodean and my childhood was a lesbian and ***** to boot... Coincidently this shocking time came sometime after the nickolodean phase of my life when I was watching the man-show, and they were to a gay-pride parade asking the various women if they'd sleep wiht Rosie, no one said yes, poor rosie :(

I have to agree with Matt, I think Barbara probably wanted her gone, a week didn't go by without some story that dragged Walters into it, I'm sure she wasn't pleased with all the embarrisment, while the studio probably was just looking at the numbers...

If half the stuff that I read about Walters and Rosie not getting along on the enterainment websites were true, then this should not be surprising.

What exactly happened with Star Jones, I'm afraid I'm out of the loop when it comes to The View :(

Old news. But welcomed 'old news' nonetheless. The less Rosie, the better for this person (and for good of humanity's sanity IMO)

I'll miss her contraversial....no I won't, it was always shameless self-promotion! :cmad:

Long story short...she got fired, but she went on live TV and tried to make it seem as though she quit and was giving Barbara Walters the shaft, and that Barbara was mean and cruel...blah blah blah. Barbara then came out and said "No, she didn't quit...she got canned and we were going to give her the chance to leave with dignity, but she burnt that bridge.

I think she really tried making the show about herself, the alleged gastric bypass surgery she would never admit to, and her constant rattling on about her love affair with her "hetero" now husband. It really seemed to turn off not only the fans but her co-workers, specifically the red headed one.

What the hell kind of name is Star Jones, sounds like a porn actress from the bargain bins... yeah the VHS DAYS of Bargain Bins! :cmad:

rosie was the best thing to happen to the view since the orginal cast left, she brought ratings...babs had rosie axed for the recent comments she made at that luncheon
