Really doesn't matter the outcome, fans of both teams should be proud, because I don't think anyone outside SF and Dallas predicted that either of these teams would be playing in a World Series. Some of the pre-season predictions were Yankees and Phillies with the Mariners winning the American League West and I think the Dodgers winning the NL West. Texas was projected to finish 3rd and I think The Giants were either projected to be 2nd or 3rd.

one away.

dunno if i would prefer them to finish it tomorrow or finish it at home.

MLB Playoff Pool Standings:
1. The Incredible Hulk - 46 Points
....cyborg ninja 14 - 46 Points
3. Kingfish - 44 Points
...Alex The Great - 44 Points
5. The Riddler - 40 Points
6. CalebYourMaster - 38 Points
7. mwrfan - 36 Points
8. Poeman - 32 Points

If the Giants win tomorrow night, then The Incredible Hulk will win the pool.

Lets go Giants...Wrap this up tomorrow. Bumgarner looks great.

However, In an ideal situation...Cain truly deserves to win the series, thus giving him the MVP

Who else feels that if the Giants win this series, they will make Sanchez expendable and trade him for a young excellent batter?

doubtful, but not out of the question. i would think the giants would try and sign a hitter in the offseason, and go from there.

So, who's the better catcher? Buster Posey or Joe Mauer?

Yeesh, let's not start the unfair comparisons too quickly there. However, if I were starting a franchise and had to choose between them, I'd probably take Posey. The difference between them isn't 20 million dollars worth.

Bumgarner just carved up the Rangers there. Kid looks very impressive. I actually wouldn't be surprised at all if Sanchez is expendable now, though who knows how good a hitter they would be able to get for him.

Sanchez is worth keeping. Not unusual for an erratic lefty to hit his peak later.

I heard the Tigers were interested in Carl Crawford. Don't know if that would be enough for them to achieve that ultimate goal (World Series Championship) though. Wouldn't signing Crawford limit the Tigers?

We have a literal ton of salary coming off the books now with Ordonez, Guillen, and a couple oither contracts expiring. Not to mentiuon we traded away Willis' bloated salary mid-season last year to free up room.

I guess we could sign Crawford, not going to turn my nose up at 20 HR, 90 RBI, and 45 SB's, and put him in LF and then move Boesch to RF. However I think we have more pressing needs in the starting rotation and perhaps another power bat like Dunn to protect Cabrera in the lineup. Also Crawford will turn 30 this year and is likely on the downswing in terms of his overall speed.

Another lame as **** World Series. What was the last good one, Angels/Giants in '02? I remember that one having some pretty awesome moments.

Marlins/Yankees in 2003 was pretty good just for the upset factor alone. Past that, you arent too far off.

Everyone was writing off the Giants because no one thought they could score any runs.

As a baseball fan, it's a great upset involving 2 teams, one that has never won and the other that hasn't won in over 50 years on the other side of the Country.

Great stat. In the first 4 games of the WS, the Texas Rangers have 26 Hits, while the San Francisco Giants have 26 Runs.

Looks like we should stick a fork in the Rangers now. Dallas fans must be livid having their Cowboys go 1-6, and now with Rangers behind in the WS 3-1.

The Rangers season was so unexpected, that I think many Rangers fans, while disappointed, would be content at the fact that their team made it to a World Series and that this season has been so good for the Rangers that they distracted the Dallas fans from the Cowboys for at least two months.

Of course, not all Rangers fans are Cowboys fans and vice versa.

I'm not content with the Knicks making it to the Finals in 94 and 99. :csad: :cmad:

That's because the Knicks were really good at one point. Prior to this season, the Rangers had won 1 playoff game in their entire history.

Still regardless, they haven't won in my lifetime. I couldn't care less for a 2nd place trophy.

Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg posted the following message on his Facebook page

This season has transcended expectations and transformed the psyche and hearts of legions of Rangers fans across Texas and throughout our country and beyond. At the core of the remarkable journey we have shared together is a ballclub and a community who collectively have consigned the conventional wisdom of the past to the dust bins of history, busting myths and charting a new course previously thought to be unattainable.

Can't pitch successfully in Rangers Ballpark. Wrong.

Can't compete successfully late in the season because the heat will break you down. Wrong.

Fans will lose interest when training camp opens. Wrong.

Fans won't come to Rangers Ballpark after the All Star break because it's too hot. Wrong.

Rangers can't win a playoff series. Wrong.

Rangers can't win a playoff game at home. Wrong.

Rangers can't beat the Yankees in the playoffs. Wrong.

Rangers can't get to the World Series. Wrong.

Rangers can't captivate the hearts and emotions of fans new and old deep into the fall. Wrong.

And on and on and on....

I can't even begin to count the memorable moments we have shared this year thanks to a very special group of players with hearts and smiles as big as Texas, who always pull together, stand up for one another, and who have changed the sports landscape here in the Metroplex forever.

But here is a simple reality. Monday will be the last game played in Rangers Ballpark this year. We all owe it to ourselves, our players and each other, to celebrate with passion, enthusiasm and indefatigable belief from lineup cards to the final out, loud and proud.

The defining team of my young life was the 1979, "We are Family" Pittsburgh Pirates. I have often remarked how much this Rangers club reminds me of that team, with a confident but friendly swagger and an abundance of character and personality.

Now these two teams have something else in common. Both fell behind 3-1 in the World Series. Kent Tekulve, the great closer from the '79 Pirates, texted me after tonight's game to pass along this story. Before Game 5, Willie Stargell told his teammates:

"We are playing in front of the whole world. We may not win this thing, but before we go, let's show the world how the Pirates really play baseball."

The Pirates, playing against a team whose colors were black and orange, won Game 5. Then they returned to Baltimore and won Game 6. Then they won Game 7.

I know our players will show everyone how the Rangers play baseball tomorrow. As fans, let's do the same. We have one final opportunity this season to show the world what we have accomplished together and the passion we all hold for our players and our shared dreams.

The World Series is going back to San Francisco. And then there will be one final piece of conventional wisdom to prove wrong....

Believe.

Chuck
