Nats retain Davey Johnson as manager. I wonder what its like for him to manage a team that plays in front of 50 fans every home game.

You're confusing Davey Johnson with Ozzie Guillen.

Good for Tony goin out as a champ. I never liked him but he's one of the best.

I never liked Larussa either & never forgiven him for the 1989 World Series, but good for him on leaving baseball on a high note.

I really like what the Indians are doing with their pitching staff

They just traded for Derek Lowe

Masterson, Ubaldo, Low, Carmona

Nice...

Tony La Russa retires

Peace out to the baseball mullet...I'd go out on top like this as well. Good for him

33 years, 3rd on the managers wins list, 3 rings, nothing wrong with going out on top like that. The game won't be the same without that crazy loon.

Good deal for both sides. Braves can slot in those young arms like Delgado and Teheran, and Indians improve their rotation in a decently winnable division.

Surprised Sabathia didn't opt-out. Not a bad deal for the Yanks, only had to add one more year for just a bit higher average.

I just realized I'm the only one who voted for the Cardinals to win it. If this was Vegas, I'd be one lucky SOB.

Not as lucky as the dude who bet the Cardinals would win the WS when they were 10.5 out.

In 2005, I told a friend that the White Sox would win the series that year. He said I was completely nuts, but would buy me a steak dinner if they did.

Well of course they did win it...but I never did get that steak dinner :argh:

Terribly confused on how the voters could accurately select Parra, but at the same time go with Ethier, that's guy's never been a great fielder. But the GGs are a sham, even when they decide not to award Jeter for the umpteenth time.

Ethier. Seriously. Yet another year of the GGs being a joke.

I like how the article is titled Frank McCourt agrees to....like he had any other choice but to sell.

Finally this nightmare is about to end for the Dodgers fans. I remember back when McCourt brought the team, and there was a talk show host named Joe McDonnell gave him a nickname "McBankrupt". Years later it turns out to be true. Since Mark Cuban wants to own a MLB team, I'd say let him bid for it and see if he'll be their new owner.

Huge stain on Selig legacy when he let this guy run a franchise into the ground like that.

Selig has done a lot of good for Baseball some misfires along the way but the positives far outweigh the negative

What positives outweigh the 1994 strike, steroids, WBC, and ASG determining home field advantage?

You mean the thing that has been in the NFL since 70's?

Also, add expansion to his list of failures. MLB is in a bad situation, there are 30 teams so a 15/15 split in each league makes interleague (which has worn out its appeal) an every day thing. There are no viable cities to host teams, especially in this economic climate, and there's no way they have the balls to contract.

Oh, and his idea of moving the Astros to the AL and 15/15 split between the 2 leagues is also horrible.

To call Selig a tool is inaccurate, tools serve a purpose. Not to mention its an insult to tools. My dad actually knows a guy who had a high ranking job in MLB during the 80's-90's (I think he was the VP) who said that when Selig owned the Brewers, his office was a windowless room in the bowels of the stadium that was cluttered with papers from 20 years ago and his idea of going out to lunch was going to a hot dog cart.

Bud Selig has done a lot damage to baseball & I'll be happy when he decides to quit or resign.
