Coolies,

I've never read that comic, it certainly shows Scott to be more than a capable leader. I love that he is super-calm, strategic and analytical in battle, able to turn most situations to his advantage and find an answer for even the most oblique problems.

I wonder, with the possible loss of his visor, and the uproar it could generate regarding the loss of an 'Iconic' X-Men image, if we might start seeing more of a Scott like the one of old. I'm sure Whedon realizes that the Visor is an important and definitive X-Men image, but has anyone read X-Men Annual '97? Scott's control of his powers is returned in that, and, there is a very powerful panel of him posing with superman style energy flowing out his two eyes. It's just as powerful an image as some of the ones of Scott with the visor.

Also, as has been stated, having control of his powers might return him to the calm and confident Cyclops that lead the X-Men to many victories in the first place. (However, I feel this may be a non-issue as I think that Scott has almost always been portrayed this way, even recently).

Does anyone think that Scott may get a personality change (like Logan did when he lost the Admantium) if/when he loses the visor?

I don't think the visor loss will last long enough to factor in. It just won't.

Yes I hope they will not dispose his visor.

I love that issue, not only does Cyclops show how great a tactitioner he is... but then Storm does a ridiculously stupid act that hurts half the team and almost kills Maddy.
Proving that Cyclops is a better leader than Storm afterall :P

....did any one else notice that Cyclops completely forgot about MAddy untill the end page there.

WTF? How is saying, in the Cyclops thread, that i think that the images there show Cyclops as a better leader than storm Trolling?

That sort of thing, calls me out mortal... whenever the name of the All-Goddess, Queen Ororo is sullied, there I am to defend her!!! :p

For starters... rash action or not, it was HER who was able to defeat Mastermind. All Cyclops could do was run around the mansion and try to avoid the X-Men... and if you read carefully, he was only able to avoid Ororo's blast because SHE hesitated. If she didn't have such a strong resistance to psychic attacks, then she would not have hesitated to Mastermind's illusion, and would have killed Summers. He should get on his hands and knees and thank the All-Goddess for her strenght of mind.

The cover to Astonishing 19, with Summers being visionless... it is very very odd. It will not last, it can't. The visor is what makes him Cyclops... if he has two eyes, what is he gonna call himself? Byclops? :p

The Annual 97 was the work of the Gamesmaster... goddess that's a villain that has a lot of potential yet it was so barely explored... a true waste of character.

Yeah, in action that almost cost her the lives of her teammates. Besides, to think she was the only one capable of defeating Mastermind is silly. The man's been getting beat up by X-Men since the original five. A simple optic blast or anything else really would've taken care of Mastermind. Of course, Storm figured she might as well try and kill the team along with it.

All Cyclops could do was run around the mansion and try to avoid the X-Men...
Which he did quite succesfully, which allowed for them to defeat Mastermind.

He still owned the rest of the X-Men like they were little children.

"almost Killing" means nothing... :p

And I'd say "almost owning" the rest of the X-Men, do remember they seemed pretty healthy when they run towards him at the infirmary.

But he kept them that way on purpose. Not only did he beat all the X-Men, but he knew how much damage he could give them to disable them, but so that theyd still be in good shape to fight Mastermind when he found him.

...and yeah Scottt could have just blasted an Optic sweep around the room and taken him out a lot more efficiently than Storms recklesness.

Leave the angst trolls to their own devices. It's actually fun to read sometimes, hopefully they soon realize that the characters are fake. Y'know, not worth the perpetual angst. :)

Swine like Summers has no honor :p... oh right, you're british, I'll say it in a way you'll understand... Swine like Summers has no honour :p

Could haves and would haves mean nothing, since they didn't happen. What happened is, Queen Ororo beat the villain, a villain that made Summers run all over the place like a frightened little girl :p

Maybe but, the new atmosphere CW is suppose to create in MU would probably welcome a long term change such as that.

Also, we haven't had a good Summers/Storm debate in a while, though it is pointless now... Summers is nothing compared to the MOST IMPORTANT MUTANT OF THE WORLD, according to XAVIER'S words :p

noooooo... Marvel? long term change? not gonna happen. Im still wondering how theyre going to inevitably retcon everyone knowing Peters identity.

Maybe your right, but it seems many think that Marvel doesn't have the balls to do certain things. And if so, they will soon see the wrongs of their ways(through retcons).

Quick question, is Astonishing X-Men like in it's own realm? If so then I can see what you're saying.
