LOL I've... I've been hurt before by Marvel's teases.

They just haven't laid any groundwork for Ben's return yet, and with Spider-Island nearing it's end, focusing less and less on Jackal, I just don't see it happening.

Plus if they were going to be planning on bringing him back they'd be spoiling the crap out of it and pushing it like crazy.

I dunno, maybe they are doing the opposite on purpose. Look at every time someone asks them directly if they are bringing back Ben (i.e. at the Conventions), and they always answer "No" right away. Yet they keep throwing images out there of Scarlet Spider/the hoodie/etc like they are just trying to gauge the fans' reactions...

It's Marvel's POINT ONE issue coming in November. This 64-pages book contains some stories kicking off events for 2012, or how Marvel describes it: setting the stage for huge changes.

And that might be exactly why it's called .1, in software development this is the first step to something new.

Nonetheless, I am excited about this "new" (hopefully not so new) Scarlet Spider.

Bring back Ben!

I don't know about Ben coming back. So much time has passed, I don't know if today's writers have a proper grasp on who Ben Reilly is (besides just Peter's dead clone).

In the late 90's I wanted him to come back. Now, I'm not sure.

Anyway, I think the new Scarlet Spider will be Kaine. Just a feeling.

Yup... I don't quite know what to think about it... It's as close as we can get to Ben without it being Ben. Damn.

I think I'm OK with it. I mean... basically... ah screw it- read the issue then read my comments:

Since Kaine is cured of being a giant spider, AND is made normal- seemingly perfect with no degeneration, he is essentially Ben, but not. He has killed. He is what Peter could never let himself be... and he'll be the new Scarlet Spider.

Oh and The Jackal is dead again. At least this clone died.

3. With Kaine back not deformed does that mean no Ben??

I'd love to see Ben Reilly return as the Scarlet Spider.

I think there's a lot that could be done with the character in case of his return.
