Aaahhh, the cover is awesome. I love it. Ben RULES!
I'll buy it 3 times, one for reading, one for collecting, and one to boost sales.
I'm not kidding, not this time :word:

Here's the write-up...

"We take you back to the days of grungy 90s as The X-Men and Spider-Man face off against Mr. Sinister and Carnage! But this Spidey isn't Peter Parker--it's Ben Reilly, the Spider-Clone! And Wolverine's claws are made of bone, not adamantium! It's radical...it's extreme...and if we coulda put a chromium cover on it, we would have! Put down your pogs and pick this up if only to feast your eyes on Mario Alberti's art! It'll make you say "Cowabunga, dude!"

I think the write-up is trying too hard to be hip... just like the 90's! :woot:

This is a great start and I can't wait! Christos says Reilly stays in the suit the whole time, so I just hope his quite-different-from-Peter personality shines through. I will be perfectly happy if they do an untold Ben Reilly story once in a while. I don't need a cheesy resurrection. More untold Reilly (and Kaine!) stories is all I ever really wanted.

I will buy at least 5 copies!!! can't wait!!! lets get a second printing so we have 2 new reilly covers guys!!!

Here's what you've all been waiting for.

Oh man. You know what would be awesome... if the Carnage symbiote leeched onto Ben again for a few pages and Spider-Carnage appeared again. That was an awesome storyline!

I'm so pumped for this. I hope we buy enough copies to send a message that we want more Ben stories. And Kaine too!

Here's a quick question to the Reilly fans:

We know Osborn was behind the Saga, but did Osborn do any cloning of his own? What I mean is, was all the actual cloning performed by Jackal or Trainer, or did Osborn have his own cloning abilities?

I think Marvel is warming up to the idea of revisiting some Clone Saga elements. With the Kaine tease not too long ago, this official appearance of Reilly in the crossover mini, and one element I think which ties them all together:
Harry's return.

NWTD Spoilers and Speculation:
In the last chapter of New Ways to Die, Osborn flat-out admits that Harry died, and we also find out that Harry is involved with some nefarious human experimentation. What if Osborn cloned Harry, brought him back, and made up all kinds of backstory to explain his "death" to normal folk, leaving the truth for Harry and himself? It wouldn't be hard for him to forge some official gov't documents on his recently revived son's behalf, what with him working very closely with the feds (and being the President's best friend, nowadays). The Powers that Be have admitted that there is a totally "logical, non-magical explanation" for Harry's return. Sounds logical to me.

My speculation with respect to the experimentation is this: perhaps Harry knows he's a clone, and he's trying to find out some way to slow or stop the inevitable degeneration problems? This allows Kaine to show up, interested in a prospect like that.

Just a thought.

With the Kaine tease not too long ago...

oh? Where was this tease?? I missed that! :wow::wow:

And if Kaine's still around, and if nobody but Pete remember's that Peter Parker is Spider-Man...where does that leave Kaine? Does he know he's a clone of Peter Parker? Does he know he's a clone of Spider-Man?

I can't wait for this issue! Some new material that actually features Ben Reilly... whod've thought we'd ever see the day?

Just found and bought the NEW Ben Reilly figure from Wal-Mart.
2 things I am curious about though:
1 - he comes in 2 different poses????
2 - He's called Scarlet Spider while in his Spider-Man suit.

Also, seems like newsarama or cbr were right:
The Marvel Legends figures that come out are important to current and future stories.

I just got that figure myself! The poses are simply a packaging variant. Like they had Ultimate Iron Man packaged with and without his helmet.

He's called Scarlet Spider to ease confusion. My only problem with the figure is that he has sculpted webs on the mask and painted webs on the body. Not a huge problem though as it looks decent in person and makes a great addition to the Spidey shelf.

That's the toy that says "Scarlet Spider" AND has a picture of Spider-Girl (complete with busty chest) representing Ben on the package.

Oye. Looks like they put as much thought into it as Joe Q put into "One More Day." :whatever:

Oh man! Great news about Ben Reilly appearing in the comics again, even if it is a flashback issue. I'll take it. I was reading the first X-Men/Spider-Man issue a few days ago and kind of dug where it was going. Glad to find out that Ben will be making an appearance in the mini in the very near future. Great stuff!

So, what's all the clone heads thinking about the recent Spider-Girl storyline? With the now cloned version of May and Defalco going a little deeper into the whole Baby May time period. Definitely some good stuff. Hopefully they reincorporate the Clone Saga into the Amazing Spider-Man storyline. Though I fear they will not but hoping that somewhere...sometime...it'll be brought back up again in main continuity.

So, with Osborn running everything, and since past history DID happen aside from the marriage... MAYBE... just maybe the guy running around in the black Spidey suit is a brain washed or memory wiped Ben.

Drew asks:

Hey Mr. Quesada,
Your fill-ins were pretty insightful. It was cool to here a little about the creative summit.
Was there anything decided at Marvel's recent creative summit about a certain deceased Spidey clone, say Ben Reilly? Will he have his own "Brand New Day" in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man any time in the near future? Please bring back the original Scarlet Spider, in current continuity!

JQ: Drew, there's good news and bad news and more good news on the Ben Reilly front. The good news is that he's appearing right now in Spider-Man and The X-Men 2, which takes place in the past.
The bad is that there are no plans, nor have any other decisions been made with respect to Ben.
The other good news is that as while we're currently working on building Peter's world back up again, the door certainly isn't closed on Ben if one of our writers has a great idea down the road.

So the simple answer is, "No Ben Reilly for right now."

I've ordered 13 issues of #3 and I plan to give to all my comic friends. Yes it was a hefty price but i'm trying to send marvel word: I will not support BND in any shape but I will support Ben.
