you know, if Green Lantern came out in the 70s (and I know the effects wouldn't be what they are today) before people were constantly hit over the head with CGI, I bet kids would grow up pretending to make constructs and whatnot. I just can't see the current generation of kids falling head over heels for GL, even with all the toys they are putting out there

I became a Green Lantern fan in the late 1960's early 1970's and my kids are all Green Lantern fans today.

Kids don't know anything about special effects. A cool concept is a cool concept to them.

People overestimate how different kids are today. If you actually met some kids you would notice how little things ahve changed.

Wait..so it's 'lame' to create constructs from a ring, but it's okay for boys to shoot web from their wrists, or have knives coming out of their knuckles?

Confirmed constructs:

Giant hand.
Sword.
Fighter Jet.
Anti-Aircraft Weapon.
Dunne buggy.
Missile.
Double-edge alien spear.
Kilowog.

i think some of you may be misunderstanding what i was saying. what's the last superhero film that had a generation of kids trying to emulate the hero?

Guys, this has already been researched by the producers and marketing folks. What they found was that kids like the idea that you could be chosen to be a Green Lantern and they view Green Lantern as a more creative character than other Superheroes and that he fulfills all of their expectations for a superhero. Also parents believed that Green Lantern is a good role model with a great sense of humor as well as a creative hero, using his imagination as the ultimate super power. The powers that be already know the perception kids have about Green Lantern. Furthermore kids over the age of 12 know about special effects. It's not like they don't get on the Internet to find out at that age.

Those are epic, but what's the point of using vehicles contructs if he has the power of flight?

Does he literally just create a "missile" or he does he create a contruct that fires a missile?

Batman, Spider-Man, and Iron Man (with Hulk and Superman coming in right behind them).

I believe the dune buggy appears in some sort of training sequence in Oa.

The missiles I think he just creates them.

BTW, expected to see the sword, the double-edge alien spear, the jet fighter and the anti-aircraft gun in the Trailer.

Those constructs sound pretty sweet. Bring on the trailer! :D

If there's one thing kids love doing is punching their first through thin air and imagining it's something or that they're hitting something. Add that with the whole concept with Green Lantern and you're golden. Kids should eat this up.

Spiderman was a pretty popular halloween costume for quite a few years, if that qualifies.

As for GL....a simple bandit-mask and a battery-lit ring should do well in that arena too. Just hope that doesn't sum up the actual movie as well. ;)

Thanks, I can't wait to see some epic constructs in the 2nd trailer :word:.

Time to throw on the Green Lantern shirt and head on over to the local poppin Irish pub and have an Irish Car bomb and a Guinness.

Enjoy folks! :word: :hal:

Well, Ryan Reynolds, did do the intro to the reprint of Secret Origins this week, and in the news there was a report that "Green Lantern" and "Transformers" were considering delaying thier release dates in Japan due to the damage done by the earthquake and tsunami over there. This weekend we will be having the C2E2 which will be featuring Chris Hemsworth and an appearance of Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. The following week we should have the second trailer for "Green Lantern" and the the week of April fools we should have some "Green Lantern" stuff at Wondercon.

I think WB's should most DEFINITELY delay the release of GL in Japan.

That would be a wise move.

I'll be honest, kids are probably going to love this flick. The concept lends itself to just a very kid-friendly type of thing. Not to mention the huge number of Corps members that the little brats will want to emulate and find merchandise for.

The sword and Spear are Sinestro's constructs?

Oh god, i remember the scene from Secret Origins where Hal made a Kilowog construct to beat Atrocitus if i remember correctly. It was such an awesome moment.

That sounds cool as f***, I hope he does something similar in the movie.
