In regular MU, yeah, CRAZINESS would ensue.

Oh it would be sick if that happened in UXM, Prof X did say he loved her though? I think ....but its wrong shes too young lol.

But I hope they do something different with the Phoenix story in UXM something different and new which doesn't end in Death.

Preferably I would love to see Ult Rachel. Screw Cablerine. I thought that story couldn't get worse than the original, I was wrong.

I would love to see a brand new Rachel take control of the Phoenix and do something NOT stupid, reckless, manic, or deadly with it. Ya'll know like the stuff she's always been good at but never gets the credit for.

If someone in the MU should get sanctified and become a marter it should be Rachel.

But I like Jean without Phoenix so if she doesn't have them thats ok, still like her, in X-men First class I like the way they write Jean so I'm not borthered if she loses them.

When Rachel first became Phoenix she seemed crazed and the other characters acknowledged that. She almost destroyed the entire universe to destroy Beyonder.

Later Wolverine gutted her to keep her from killing Selene.

In the recent Shiar story, Rachel needlessly slaughtered and dismembered a bunch of Shiar because she was being corrupted by the blue shadow echo of the Phoenix Force that she now has.

This idea that Rachel had complete control of the Phoenix Force is NOT accurate. Rachel as Phoenix wasn't as powerful as Jean as Phoenix anyways or at least they kept saying that.

Even Claremont (who came up with the Phoenix avatar concept) wrote in X-Men the End that Rachel's connection to the Phoenix was lesser than Jean's and that "Jean is Phoenix, Phoenix is Jean".

We've seen Rachel as Phoenix and Jean as Marvel Girl or just Jean before...

Now we need to see Jean as Phoenix and Rachel as Marvel Girl or just Rachel.

Besides Rachel has a spark of blue Phoenix Force right now and Jean has the true Phoenix force right now in the White Hot Room.

Jean Grey needs to be Phoenix for a long while without dying, going evil/insane, or being fragmented.

All media versions of Jean have/had some level of Phoenix identity and powers in recent years. Jean Grey is more marketable that way and is licensed out that way.

So its unlikely that will change.

Phoenix is Jean Grey's codename and Jean Grey is a Phoenix (White Phoenix of the Crown) just like she is a human and a mutant.

Recent continiuty says that the Phoenix is apart of Jean Grey's mutation, consciousness, and destiny.

Lets not muck the continuity by changing that again.

Jean as Phoenix is suppose to return. She dies to return to always come back. She resurrects near instantly or later through a Phoenix Egg. She does Phoenix Work in the White Hot Room.

The Phoenix Force from Endsong and Warsong was a fragment of the Jean Grey/Phoenix whole.

It's not like Claremont is doing anything horrendous right now. Sure, his Exiles isn't top notch, but he's pretty much been confined to one part of the X-Universe. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
