Official Silent Hill Discussion **

I'm going to write Silent Hills in episodic tales...Chapter 1: Don't Trust The Tap Water :p

So what is Konami's endgame if they chased off all their talent away?

It's important to understand that Konami's primary source of income is no longer video games, and hasn't been for a few years. Basically, they're shifting away from ever increasingly expensive AAA game development that is no longer as profitable for them as they want and putting the focus on mobile, which generally has a low budget and high return, in regards to the video game side of their business.

If I had put this in the gaming lounge alone some of you wouldn't notice it. which happened with director holms with arkham origins leaving WB Montreal for a nother studio which was put up there. So I'm putting this here as well. since that's was the case.

I'll still put this article in the gaming lounge I'm making sure there aren't people that aren't inthe know since there peep's that only make sure to head to specific threads.

It's not Silent Hills. Maybe... Quiet Slopes?

Despite the cancellation of Silent Hills, which Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima and movie director Guillermo del Toro were headlining, the pair still intend to move forward on a project together.
“I love working with Kojima-san,” del Toro told IGN. “We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills].”

Del Toro also spoke a bit about the cancelled Silent Hills.
“We were in the planning stages, and it’s a shame it’s not going to happen,” del Toro said. “We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that.”

Two of my favorite people still working together to make a game. :D

it was obvious they would still make a game together. I'm also quite sure it will be close to what they wanted to do with silent Hills. It won't be that hard, considering P.T had not much in common with silent Hill to begin with.

Anyway, this is great news!

Well, Konami ballsed it up and let a lot of people down, including their own SH franchise, so to hell with them.
And if del Toro and Kojima do accomplish anything close to better than P.T...

yeah, I'm with you. I'm more interested by T.P now that I am by the prospect of a new Silent Hill game.

The same. I would have loved to have seen SH return to its former glory, but that's on Konami's head now.
And I welcome anything del Toro and Kojima can provide us because they both know how to create some of the most intense horror any gamer has ever experienced.
P.T was nothing like SH anyway, so I can't say I'd be upset by not seeing more of the SH quriks, because it had none.
The possibilities, now without being tied down to SH's trademark horror, are pretty much endles. They're not just limited to one thing. They can base it loosely on that concept or come up with something entirely different. What they can now do with that freedom, they may create something that surpasses SH and other great horror games.

I'm excited!

Exactly. And it may be the first installment in a new serie of games, which would allow them to developp a huge mythology as well.

I hope its huge. Mainly just to give ******** to Konami. I can't wait to hear more details regarding the project.

Back to Silent Hill. Was Silent Hills set to be a sequel or a reboot? I wonder if Konami will ever reboot the franchise.

I think it was meant to be a one off episode, kinda like silent hill 2 was.

Ah.
I don't know if SH really requires a full on reboot. One-offs like SH2 give it a chance to always breath new life into the story that doesn't need explanations or anything to the original. People aren't bothered by that.

To be honest, I don't know Konami are going to handle this after dismissing Kojima.
I don't know how they'll generate as much buzz as P.T. It's going to have to be bigger and better, and I think they were banking on Kojima forever being the developer of sequels, because he would've no doubt brought the best out in SH, like with MGS.

And now he's gone...and they have nothing because of it.

I think one shots are the way to go indeeD. No need to reboot.

That said, I'm not even sure they are really planning to make another SH game to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if they release a remaster of homecoming and donwpour though.

Konami is not done with crushing your dreams.

There's already a mobile game, has been for awhile

Loved the PT shoutout in the latest Metal Gear thing. :(

I think they revived the project, but didn't announce it yet. Since they need all the hype for MGSV for now.

Middle finger to Konami?
I see three options:
1) Kojima parts ways with Konami and creates P.T. with Del Toro as an independent developer. So yeah, kinda middle finger to Konami.
2) Konami revived the project themselves. Kojima will be developing it on contract terms.
3) Konami revived P.T.. Kojima won't leave Konami and will be developing it.
