Agreed.. But it not only slowed down the pacing, but it took a lot away from Tobey's performance.. With Harry showing up, and their little jokes, on top of the conedy interuptions, make it seem like Peter didn't even consider Venom and Sandman a challenge.. Which sucks because the final battles from the first 2 movies were brilliant (Especially SM1).

Yes. It was one-on-one. Proverbial 'father' versus Son. It made it dramatic and the best 'final' battle. It was powerful and emotive. Looking back on 3, it just shows how far we've fell.

Hopefully, when the extended cut comes out, they put back everything they cut from the final fight, including scenes of Sandman, human size, fighting with Spider-Man.. Too much flying around and leaping from things, not enough one on one ass kicking..

If there will ever be an extended cut of Spidey 3, I hope as much work will be put in to it, as there was for Richard Donner's SUPERMAN 2 CUT!... That movie was lifted several levels beyond the Lester theatrical version! The whole movie had a different feel! There were practickly no camp! The whole progress of the movie went in a completely different way; a BETTER way! Everything about it, yet much was the same, seemed and worked better because of the way it was all edited together!

An extended Spidey 3 should do the same, cause it wasn't at all what I had expected (though I enjoy it thoroughly!)... I've heard so much about deleted scenes, about how it was originally Gwen who were surpose to get kidnapped, and originally MJ going to Harry to ask him to help Peter! Everything I've heard about Spidey 3 had scenes and stuff that would've lifted the movie in an exstreme way had it been that, instead of what we got.

i'm gonna upload the commentary for the final battle: it reveals:

-Who was originally going to be in peril in the cab and how much Raimi stressed over the decision
-What the final battle in Spider-Man 1 was originally going to be
-Where sandman's grunts were from
-How high sandman gets
-who is really "dead"
-If James wants to come back again
-Topher's opinion of Eddie dying and the logic behind it
-Could Venom come back?
-Whose idea it was to have sandman blowing away in the wind
-How much went into shooting the final battle


interesting that none of them mention the newscaster and didn't seem too impressed with them.
and Raimi was saying how "proud" he was of his daughter acting in that scene when she is giving the cam to Jameson for $100
and Raimi was also saying that the butler (Bill Paxton's father) was a great actor who did his best acting in the film (and it seems to disagree with the bloopers)
I think they said that some of the venom sounds were taken from a tasmanian devil
and they also mentioned Tobey was gonna have a baby when they were filming the part where Peter pulls Eddie out of the symbiote and throws the bomb.
The film was completed in less than a week before the Japan premiere
and Sam wanted all the characters from all 3 movies in the funeral scene

If the MJ forgiveness scene was cut b/c Gwen was no longer kidnapped, then we're left w/only the infamous Butler scene as Harry's motivation to help Peter, which is terrible IF true.... I hope the MJ forgiveness speech is ADDED to the SM3 Extended Edition b/c the Butler scene alone is weak.

I don't know about the forgiveness thing, but I think that it has to be MJ kidnapped and not gwen. MJ is connected to Harry and Peter and has been with us throughout the whole trilogy. I don't care that this was the third time this happened to her, she has more of an emotional connection to the characters and to the audience than gwen, so I hope that when the extended edition comes out, it's still MJ that must be saved.

Well, I'm not mad about it because I'm getting the 2-disc special edition DVD and I wasn't planning on getting the Blu-Ray version. were you planning on getting the Blu-Ray version?
