Official Tom Clancy's The Division

What do you reckon? Shall I get gold?

I say go for it man. Everyone I'm playing with has the season pass, so when that stuff drops I'm sure you'll wanna join in. I know DaCEric went gold and I'm pretty sure Makavelli did as well.

I got standard... But I'll be getting the Season Pass. For sure.

I should of gotten the collectors edition, but I didn't want the physical game. I had it digitally preordered the day the first beta went live.

What's the difference between gold and collectors?

The Division promises that a new update is coming next week

March 18, 2016 66 Comments

After many delays, The Division is out and in the hands of players everywhere. The development team has posted a quick state of the game update, promising players to provide weekly articles regarding the state of the game and the community alike. This first week promises that a new patch will be incoming at some point next week, although no further information was given.

The community team has also pulled together a few videos from across YouTube of players highlighting funny moments, easter eggs, and dramatic showdowns within the game. You can check one of those out just below if you’d like a little post-ruin New York giggle over absurdity. Keep your eyes peeled for more details about next week’s patch.

Enjoying it so far, just did the Grand Central Terminal mission...Sweet Sassy Molassy that was a slog, fun, but challening

I'm loving the game, but I'm noticing that I can't seem to play for more than an hour. It's like I'll go and do some side missions, and maybe one main mission and that will be it. I don't know if it's because it is kinda repetitive, or if I'm just not into gaming and have a lot of other things on my mind. But as much as I love this game and the environment, I don't feel like I can play 5-6 hours straight, which I think may help in extending how long I play it in terms of real time.

Yeah I think I have a read a few comments about the end game being a bit weak. The main story was great and I loved pretty much most missions but I do find myself not really investing more than 1-2 hours at a time now, get my free loot, do a speed run of the daily's and then thats about it. The Dark Zone I can take or leave. Its still fun while playing mind.

Haha I never play for less than 5-6 hours. The last few nights Iv started around 1 and ended around 6am or 7. But I'm always playing with ppl, if I were by myself I prob wouldn't play that long. This game is absolutely tailored to group/co op play.

I think what hurts my experience is the lack of personality in the character. I love customizing outfits, but all in all, and I get why it's the case, I feel like the personal aspect is lost. It almost feels like playing a chore, which is never a good thing. There's no true drive to finish or rush to the end like there is in other games.

I'll never understand some people who go rogue. So last night me and 2 other buddies enter the DZ and immediately there is this lone dude aiming at us. So of course we aim back, and remember, there's 3 of us and one of him. We do this little dance for a moment and then he open fires on one of us and of course he is immediately cut the f**k down by myself and my other buddy. This line rogue got nothing but lost credits, XP and DZ keys. No idea what the hell he was thinking.

is there any kind of "morality" or "alignment" system in the game?

like, can you choose to do good or be bad?

I don't get it either, some people just want to be the a-hole

In terms of story, no. The closest you get to something like that is whether you choose to go Rogue in the Dark Zone, but all that really accomplishes is that it makes you a target for everyone else.

ah, thanks.

Play it with friend's.

Play it with friend's.
I played a couple of times with my brother and nephew, but ultimately I'm the type of gamer that doesn't really do mulitplayer. That was a big reason why I felt I would be disappointed with this, but to it's credit, the game is very playable solo, and I have enjoyed myself.

But I also know I'm probably going to be missing out on a lot since I have yet to step foot in the Dark Zone.

Yea and this dude in particular had zero to gain. All I can figure out is he didn't know the dude he shot had 2 teammates, both with rifles trained on his head ready to fire. I mean the second the rogue notification popped, we cut him down. I mean it was pretty damn funny, just left me confused as to what he was thinking haha

So, how much of this game can be done via single player? I had read in the past it's kinda divided.

I'm not completely done with it, but I'm pretty sure the entire story/campaign can be done solo. But the real bread and butter is suposed to be the Dark Zone, which almost makes you need friends/teammate in order to survive long enough to get your loot extracted.

The Division’s next patch makes the Dark Zone not suck

March 21, 2016 42 Comments

As promised, Ubisoft is pushing out a Division patch this week — tomorrow, in fact. There’s a huge list of bug fixes in the patch notes, along with some hefty changes for the Dark Zone that are making for a very happy PvP playerbase. Of note:

  • Players can now heal other neutral players in the Dark zone
  • Players are now able to fast travel to Dark Zone checkpoints from outside the Dark Zone
  • Players killed in the Dark Zone now drop ammo, medkits and grenades, generated rather than taken from the dying players’ inventory
  • Players killed in the Dark Zone will lose less Dark Zone Funds and Experience
  • Dark Zone Funds and Experience rewards for surviving Rogue status and killing Rogue agents have been improved
  • For level 31 and 32 enemies, there’s now an increased drop rate of High-End items, High-End Division Tech Material, and Phoenix Credits; funds drop rates and quantity on NPCs has been reduced.
  • Rank 30 chests will now drop purple items instead of blue, and keys chests now have a chance to drop gold items.

Lastly

The Division’s game director leaves for IO Interactive

March 21, 2016 11 Comments

Staffing changes are really pretty common when a big title launches. It’s understandable, even; if you’ve just spent several years of your life working on a given title, you’ll probably be happy to move on and let someone else deal with the game once it’s out of the development cradle. This is all a roundabout way to provide speculative context for The Division’s former game director Ryan Barnard leaving Ubisoft and heading over to work for Hitman developer IO Interactive.
According to Barnard’s LinkedIn page, he had left the company back in February, which may raise a few eyebrows and suggest a few questions. All of those questions are purely speculative, of course; about all we know for certain when it comes to The Division’s performance is that it smashed the heck out of sales records.
