WHOA..
Go Skyscraper!!
Go Skyscraper!!
Well it's also Chael's fault for not being able to finish him on the ground by then...I. F**kin'. HATE. Submissions.
Silva got his ass whooped for 20 goddamn minutes and it takes a few seconds for him to clinch the entire fight.![]()

The entire fight was amazing, up until the reflex tap.Well it's also Chael's fault for not being able to finish him on the ground by then...
That first round was amazing though,...

It's really the beauty of MMA. You find yourself in a bad situation and you have to find your way out. Silva found a way out.
I'm only putting in my opinion as a mere casual MMA viewer, but the mere principle of having the ability to decide a fight on a submission is so off-base to me. This bout was a perfect example. Chael FOUGHT for every single second of those rounds. Silva was practically shielding himself 90% of the time. Yet he gets a good opening and can end the fight on a tapout. How much fighting did Silva actually do here? I mean honestly...Well it's also Chael's fault for not being able to finish him on the ground by then...

I can fully acknowledge that submissions are an artform and do require skill, but to me it's still not fighting. Anyone trained can pull that off. It takes a lot more effort to actually BEAT a man down.
Bleh. Like I said I'm only a casual viewer, but goddamn I hate fights that end like this. If I had my way submissions would be barred from this entire sport.![]()

That analogy is more than exaggerating my point here. Your comparison wouldn't be baseball for the simple fact that you've taken out every aspect that makes it a competitive sport. Even the basic foundations of hitting a ball is taken away, so of course you have nothing. That's why it's Mixed Martial Arts, though. It's a whole bunch of 'em.
If you had your way, it wouldn't be MMA.
If I had my way, baseball would have no balls, no bases, and no bats. Just strippers. But then it wouldn't be baseball, would it?

Yeah, I saw that fight. Pretty hilarious actually. However, the difference between KOs and tapouts are that the former still requires you to fight. It could be the luckiest punch in the world, but you actually fought. Not everyone can get knocked out with a single hit. Everyone can be made to tap.See, it goes both ways. There is no difference between a knock out and submission, as both can come out of no where and the end the fight in a second. Did you see the Todd Duffee/Mike Russow fight at UFC114? Go watch it. The same thing happened there except Duffee got KOed.
In real-life? I'd kick your balls or bite your ears if I had to. Anything goes. Also, does this mean if I had you on the ground and I was punching you in the face over and over while leaving myself wide open for an armbar or triangle, you wouldn't go for it just to get me to stop punching you in the face?

No, not really. Boxing itself is too limited for my tastes. I prefer UFC because of it.So you want boxing?
Silva didn't let go of the arm because Chael was still grabbing at him. But it was a tap - personally, to my eyes, a reflex tap, but it's pretty obviously a tap in the replay.Anyway, as far as the ending of the fight goes, I'm still not sure it was even a tap. Hell, I don't think Silva thought it was a tap since Silva kept holding onto the arm.
) Go Silva!!!!!!!
