OMG! My sister in law asked my parents for $5000 ( and they just got $20, 000 inherit

W T F??????.. according to that dudes defination, everything is a waste! Its all about living within your means.

He has not explained how comic books & his computer & paying a monthly fee for his internet connection is NOT a waste, just like my HDTV tuner & glasses.

How? I want to know ... you DO NOT need those things to live ( comic books, internet, computer) According to his own defination, he is just as wasteful. I spend some of my $$$ on wasteful things, BUT THEY ARE WITHIN MY MEANS!!!!! I do not have to run to my parents to ask for $$$$$$$$$$$

explain!

$650 for glasses & that was reduced from $800. That included the lens, which are those transition lens........

You should have went to Lenscrafters. You would have gotten it for less. Why do you need Prada glasses anyways?

And the really goofy part is my sister in law ONLY FREAKIN WORKS PART TIME!!!!!!:cmad:

I have no respect for anyone who doesn't pay there own way. She must really have done a number on your brother. Either that or he's some kind of masochist (spelling?)

I did go there & 3 other places. Your correct, you do not NEED french designed glasses, but again, they are within my means, they do not cost me $5000!

Deathlok is having his period:o

Just be happy your parents give you any money, man.

the strange thing Deathlock is what you spent your money on

i would never get even a quarter of the stuff you bought, i'd end up either investing some of it, putting in at least half of it into a savings account and just letting it build and i'd pay off some of my loans

hell i'd probably use all of it to pay off my loans, thankfully i'm in no credit card debt.

You're trying to bait and switch the argument. My argument was not about waste, but about your hypocrisy.

I'm not b'tching about my sister's spending habits and boasting about my spending decisions in the same post.

Can't you see how judgmental you're being? Maybe you need a better pair of glasses.

You don't need HDTV and $650 handmade French glasses to live. With that reasoning, you have no grounds to b'tch about your sister-in-law. Using your logic, she obviously also needs to go to Disneyland and a urn for her cat to live.

I gave you sound advice on what investing really entails, but you'd rather get pissed off and defend your frivolous purchases.

Whoever gave your mom that inheritance knew how to invest. I bet he wasn’t buying ***** glasses and HDTVs. And he went without for what? So some snot-nosed brat could blow his share and b'tch about his niece's spending habits?

According to you, TV is a waste. Then so too is a computer & all the accessories that go with it. The memory, the bigger HD, the printer, the new video card, the soundcard.... WASTE! WASTE! WASTE!.. ans then there is the interent connection your paying a monthly fee for... WASTE! WASTE! WASTE!

NOW , what about your monthly comic bill? Do you need that to live? NO! more waste!

Explain to me your theory of what is not wasteful?

do you NEED those things to live? NO!

And going to Disneyland was within your sister's means.

his sister-in-law doesn't have means. She's a lazy *****! Sheesh ,haven't you been paying attention. :whatever:

Not at the expense of paying off some of their mortage or paying off their big SUV> I DID pay down some of my mortage. I now have less than 9 years left on my mortage.

lol. Well when she gets that $5000 off his parents, then she'll have means.

some female bartender got a 10,000 tip last week...

:(

His sister sounds like she knows how to have a good time.. :P

you have not explained how computers & comic books are NOT wasteful. I am not in debt up to my ears, like my sister in law. The things I have are purchased over a period of time. There is a price to be paid for " having it now" which my sister-in-law does not understand or does understand but feels that parents should foot the bill.

My parents are NOT going to give them the $$$$$$.

Jesus Christ Deathlok, calm the hell down. You're gonna have a freakin' stroke.

I think his point is EXCESS is wasteful. Sure, you need glasses. Spending $650 is excessive. Purchasing a designer urn for your dead cat is excessive. Everyone spends, but spending moderately is crucial. I don't think your spending necessarily compares to your sis-in-law's, but you decry her wanton spending in one breath and then describe your own frivolous purchases in the next. I think that was Kilgore's only point.

How are computers not wasteful?

Let's see, you could use them to take home work. I'm sure you install work programs, use word and spreadsheet applications or even create powerpoint presentations.

Computers can help you balance your budget, teach you different languages, do taxes.

Hardly wasteful.

I might go to a 3 day scratch & dent sale to maybe buy a new washer. Mine is about 30-35 years old. Its that beige color that was popular in the 1970s. Now tell me, is this wasteful?

Keep in mind that these new washers are dented or scratched, but really, who cares. No one sees it & all I want is for it to wash clothes properly.
