The Dark Knight On this thread movement.

It's a simple clean up procedure, it's no big deal that you have to scroll down. The move was to make room for more spoiler specific topics in spoilers and put the topics that have no spoilers in them in here to spread the activity and make access to threads easier. As it was topics were hitting page 2 in a matter of hours in the spoiler section. I can't believe the ridiculous drama you guys are having over posting in a separate section.

If anything, why didn't they move the Fan Art thread? I mean, all the spoilers go there right...:whatever:

And now THIS thread has suffered the same fate by being moved into Non-Spoilers.

:whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever:

Actually, I posted it in non-spoilers. It was a mistake; it would have been more noticable in the spoilers section.

Maybe if your eyes weren't rolling you'd see Fanart is stickied at the top of this section.

Well that's understandable due to those reasons; but to be fair, the Lounge has always taken place in the spoiler forum. Infact, it's a deal to where that at times all the spoilers/info./ect. all starts up in there; now I'm not gonna make this all dramatic and such, but why move a thread that's gonna start spoilers and everything in a non-spoiler section? No offense intended, but do you understand what I'm saying friend? :yay:

The one sticked at top hasn't been updated since September of 2007 so a lot of posting has too be done..

The lounge was never meant for that, it was supposed to be a place for the batfans that were scared to go to community, to chat about off topic stuff, hence why it has been moved here.

If there is a separate fanart thread J will move it, it's a work in progress.

As I said, the spoilers section will always contain non-spoiler discussion, and it will be impossible to enforce the philosophy consistently. It makes more sense to have the spoiler section used for free discussion (spoilers and non-spoilers both), while the non-spoiler section for restricted discussion (which is to say no spoilers). It's less complicated, enforceable, and simply more conducive to free discussion.

If clutter was the issue, a better solution would have been the merging and deletion of redundant or useless threads, rather than moving well-trafficked and popular threads over here, especially when those thread contain spoilers.

Hunter, y'all could have posted a sticky note at the top of the spoilers forum telling us where the threads went. I don't ever go in the non-spoilers section so I had to go check my post history to find the threads I was looking for.

You didn't just look for your subscribed threads in the Control Panel?

Agreed.

Nevertheless, the spoilers are there. Let's hope nobody in this section decides to read through it, expecting to be safe from spoilers in the Non-spoilers section.

Nothing works perfectly but we will try.

In you're opinion maybe, not in ours, merging is messy, as i said, it really is not an issue for you or anyone else to use this section and it's staying as it is.

I'll make an announcement about the move, most should have had re directs on them for 24 hours though so they'd still appear in the spoiler section.

That's changing.

Are you really going to go through the entire thread and delete the spoilers? They've been there since the beginning of the lounge.

Could just delete the lounge and start a new one, we'll see which is easiest.

I can understand that, but I don't think it was a matter of getting scared; there thousands, hell maybe millions of members here who talk about off topic things. And since we're in such high numbers, I'd probably guess that it would be easier to have multiple off topic sections, correct? My main point is that the problem was the spoiler section was gettin' crowded and needed to be put somewhere else that happended to be less packed; thing is the problem wasn't prevented, it just got moved over here. So wouldn't that just make the non-spoiler section just as crowded? I know it's only one thread, but if you know the Lounge just as well as I do, you'd understand how packed it can get. :cwink: Now if I'm comprehending the matter the wrong way, would you please indulge me a little further? I'm not flustered or confused, I just want to understand and see it both ways; if that's okay with you my good sir........or mam. :yay:

I don't understand the decision to attempt the least enforceable policy.

In you're opinion maybe,
Naturally.

merging is messy
More or less messy than moving spoilers into the non-spoiler section? Also, I would think a little mess is preferable to the problems of this policy, as I've explained them.

it really is not an issue for you or anyone else to use this section and it's staying as it is.
This doesn't follow: you explained that one of the reasons for the move was because threads were being pushed to the second page of the Spoilers section in a matter of hours. So, it is an issue for users to be forced to use the second page, but not an issue for them to use a second section?

As I said, the issue isn't that we have to come to another section, but that the policy is simply unrealistic and not conducive to free discussion.

It's Sir but Hunter will do. :cwink: In the past community has served for ppl that want to talk about off topic stuff, a year or two back an X3 off topic thread was allowed and since then each major section was allowed a lounge, the purpose of which was to chat about off topic things not related to the movie in question by fans that didn't wish to venture into community.

The idea wasn't to prevent the amount of threads that are being made, the idea was to spread them out and ease the clutter in spoilers, the lounge was one that got moved b/c it is not meant to contain spoilers.

It does follow, the topics stay on page one of two separate sections, thus they get more activity and less are lost in the shuffle now that you all know where to go. I am saying you're all complaining about nothing and it's staying as it is.
