Why do hot dogs come in packs of ten, while hot dog buns in packs of eight

Though granted, you can get bun-length dogs in eight packs, but for the most part we're stuck with two extra dogs. Why?

:D

It's a known rule of man that two weiners must always be free in any meeting.

I don't like any type of bun around my meat, personally.

Cause 7 eight 9.

Is it just me or did I somehow manage to forgot to roll out of my seat laughing?

The true explanation, in my opinion, is that bakers just don't like tens. They prefer dozens, or more generally, multiples of three and four, notably four, six, eight, and twelve. These quantities lend themselves to compact packaging--three rows of four, two rows of three, two slabs of two by two (e.g., hamburger buns), and so on. Ten lends itself only to one row of ten or two rows of five, which are seldom compact shapes. Therefore, the baking mind-set--and here's where we start getting into anthropology--is such that you instinctively regard ten as an unwieldy number. When the pioneers of bun baking were trying to figure out how to package their product, they probably figured what the hey, eight makes a squarish package, so that's what we'll go with, without even considering the unique circumstances that made ten more appropriate.

I always figured it was a gimmick to get you to buy more of both...

What I've never been able to figure out is WHY there are 3 Silver Star Blvds near Steeles & Brimley in Toronto that DON'T MEET!!! Seriously, with all the possible names to choose from, couldn't they come up with something else to name some of them? (Yes, if you use Google Earth to look them up, it appears as if 2 of them were meant to meet but parkland got in the way, why not CHANGE the name if that is the case)

If the great comedian Steven Wright can't figure that out.......how can we?

Wright and quite a few other comedians, not to mention it has also been spoofed in quite a few movies.

However, to answer the question ...

You need to buy four packs of hot dogs and five packs of buns, then get you one of those vacuum sealer thingys and rewrap the hot dogs and buns so there's an equal amount of each available, freezing the remaining hot dogs and buns for later, or for that cookout you'll never get any friends to come to because of the stupid questions you like to ask.

Case closed.

Lazur is super-condescending today, I mean, more than usual.

Same reason they leave the vault WIDE THE HELL OPEN, yet chain the pens to the counter at the bank.

One of the HSBC banks near me has had the ink stolen from their pens, I went to use one and there was no ink inside. Someone must've opened the pen, taken out the ink, and closed to shell of the pen back up.

The reason....hot dog buns comes in packs of 8 compared to hot dogs 10...is becasue the company wants you to buy 2 bun packs...okay.

Why do you have to ask such a difficult question? :(

The answer to this age old question was revealed in the modern classic, "Bulletproof Monk"
