I have literally no idea how this would work.

Good money on this staying in development hell.

When I first time watched One Piece even as anime fan I found it silly at first and took time to get used to it. I dont see how you make this possible as live action.

Its not that hard to make a live action version of One Piece...no anime/manga is impossible to do in this day and age.

It just comes down to if the material gets Dragon ball Evolutioned or not. XD

Effect wise it can defnitily work, but when it comes to the look, the characters, the story etc...that is another story.

Im waiting for more news on this before dooming the whole thing.

Luffy's power work great in animation and from rest of Strawhat crew, early crew, nobody had devil fruit powers so you certainly get around it. But seeing limbs extend, arms, legs and overall body change luffy does will look either really creepy or just not real in live action. And if it does look real just watching it will hurt as you will get images of dislocated arms, limbs. just google that crap.

There is no way you could pull off the superpowers convincingly on a TV budget.

I just wish they'd stop... Anime is just one of those genres that needs to not bleed into other mediums. Maybe someone will prove me wrong one day, and I'm not one to care about "whitewashing", but if Death Note is what I have to look forward to with these adaptations, they can keep 'em.

If they get Ryan Potter for monkey d luffy I might be intrigued. Plus there's a chance for some beautiful scenery. That said though it almost certainly won't work out

How exactly would this work? Particularly with the age of the characters. You would have to have them age in real time. Unless they're not going for the manga story.

As a sidenote, I thought Daisy Ridley and John Boyega would've been the perfect Usopp and Nami in a world they didn't age. Their dynamic in TFA gave me Usopp and Nami vibes.

Anyways if done right, this could potentially be on the same scale as something like Game of Thrones. I'm hoping it's not just a cash-in.

I can't see this working at all. This show is as cartoony as they come. Plus One Piece has long struggled to find an audience in the west anyways. This is an even worse idea than adapting Naruto.

They are also doing Cowboy Bebop. That at least I could see working. But not One Piece.

Because Dragonball Evolution was the biggest film of 2009.
