So, I was considering trying this. Anyone using it? I have a friend who's been using it and pretty much swears by it. It sounds sort of like a mix between Netflix and Steam.heh

I use Steam most of the time but I missed the window when Dragon Age II was for sale there. I went to Online and picked that up and then pre-ordered the Old Republic.

Not a bad system. Looks like they have more sports games.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

Does Onlive typically get the newest releases? PC and console games i'm assuming...
I mainly only buy the AAA titles now, no time for other games. I'm gonna try the free trial this weekend I think...it seems really interesting.

I use it from time to time. I think it's pretty cool.

Also, there's a thread here.

Which version of the games do u get? Ie do u get the 64 multiplayer having BF3 that the PC gets or just what the consoles get?

It works on anything, it's software based unless you buy the little box, which is basically a receiver. It probably wont have alot of games though. Battlefield 3 works through Origin and is launched via a browser.

Gonna have to look in to it, i got a little extra cash to spend from my severance pay from work.

Does anyone have the little console that hooks up to your TV? Thats what I'm considering.

So in other words, no BF3 for the OnLive device?

Probably not. EA is pushing Origin pretty hard. You should still give OnLive a try though. It's a neat service.

Hm, damn. Cuz if i could get that little box and was able to get BF3, PC version, that would be really bad ass cuz that box isn't all that pricey.

Yea i know. This thread was already bumped so i just kept posting in here.

No, you don't need the box. You can just download it on PC or Mac.

I don't like Origin. I like to have all my games through one program. So, I just stick with Steam.

It doesn't bother me so much as long the service is good. It's basically a copy paste of steam, no were near as bad as GFWL. It's letting me pre-load Battlefield 3 well in advanced, so that cool. The price points however, are utterly ridiculous. The Old Republic by default, it is the same price as a console game and in order to play the beta access versions it's an additional £10. So that's £49.99 with the average price of a pc game being £29.99 and the average price of a console game being £39.99. Thats also not taking into the account of subscription free, so add £9 a month on top of that. Apparently everyone ran out and pre-ordered it and it's the highest pre-orders they have ever had on a game. So this will probably be standard practice. I give up. Battlefield 3 (on origin) is £10 more than the price of the average game well. Portal 2 on steam when it was being sold was £25 with a free copy of Portal. Now it's £19.

don't see the point in bumping up this thread to post an article from over a year ago.

well when I saw it, this came to my head with the steam machines coming next year, and all the talk about cloud gaming which this started of sorts. Is there room four the console's? We've barely ever reached that stage. There have almost never been that number. And with the way this was treated kinda sends a message.

Well that and I kinda remember saying in other threads if people like Nintendo were smart they would have bought people like onlive or entered a deal with them and put them both in a better place, if they had bothered to think about it just once.

Beside's that this is more of a looking back on this thing, what it brought to the table like cloud. and the whole online streaming of games And what went wrong with these people that this console failed?

I mean the fact that not many noticed it died. Says a lot about those that claim it's exciting that another console ever comes on the scene/market besides the current 3 we have now. Doesn't it?
