I have a friend who swears that Transformers will beat Spidey's record. LOL

What do you guys think it will do in its first 5 days?

1. Spider-Man 3
2. POTC3
3. Shrek 3
4. Transformers

Yeah, HP fans hit me with everything you got for saying that.

I suck up to no one. I apologize for nothing. I am here to talk about Film.

I watched POTC3 yesterday. Maybe I've been too much into TF these days. After watching POTC3, well I have to say that it is still pretty competitive, visual wise at least.

So it's really hard to say how well TF will do. If I saw Tempest19's prediction two days ago, I will definitely jumps out and ready to fight and say things like TF can do at least better then POTC3.

But now, I think it's pretty much unforseeable. How big the base of TF fan is? How many of them hate the movie? How will general audience accept the concept and visual... ? These are all question mark elements...

Of course I cross my fingers for TF to do well, so that we can be certain that there will be sequels coming up. Don't really mind whether it's gonna go into top 3 of box office or something, because from the current leaked footages and trailers, TF is already good enough to me (at least visual wise).

Well, :yay: I can tell You all for a FACT, that the first official showing in the US, will have at least 6 attendees [I'm in possession of six tickets for the 8pm showing on July 2nd.] :woot:

What about You? :trans:

I don't care if the movie breaks records or what have you. I only care that it makes enough money to warrant a sequel.... I already want more gigantic robots...

around 200 million domestic...maybe 400-450 global

POTC3 got the Matrix Revolutions attack: "Sequel sucked- avoid third at ALL COSTS!"

Otherwise in correct box office terminology- it got the case of matrixitis. :oldrazz: :woot:

I'm thinking 200 million Domestic and 300 Overseas. I hope I'm wrong though. I'd love to see Transformers pull of a Spider-Man 1 and surprise everybody!

Although I dont think it will bring in Spiderman 3 BO numbers....I think that it will be a much better film...IMO. But, I still think it will be one of the biggest surprises of the year. Does anyone know if it is going to be a worldwide release at the same time?

Pirates won't beat Shrek 3 domestically. Look at week 4 totals for each movie... Pirates is way off Shrek's pace.

Spiderman 3's box office numbers are safe, but I believe everyone who is expecting a $200 million gross is heavily underestimating how fresh a nonsequel is and how visually amazing this film will be. Movie mogul (or whatever the heck that website is called) is tracking Transformers to rake $240mil. I think it'll do more. I keep saying it, and I'll say it again. Transformers will be in the top three this year for domestic B.O. gross.

I am cautious with Box office,i say $60M opening and $175M domestic total....WW is harder to say but i'd guess maybe $250M

The main problem (in my opinion) with trying to guess Transformer's opening weekend will be that it'll have been out three days prior to it's first weekend. The film's initial success will likely be judged on it's first 6 days of release.

domestic - 225 m

worldwide - 475 m

about 120 million less than War of The Worlds.

It will make at least war of the worlds numbers domestic wise. It will have amazing effects and action. Its a fresh movie not a sequel which should contribute to the gross. A lot of the blockbusters that have came out so far have been disapointing so that should help it. 235 mil minimum.

Good point,I'd forgotten about the early opening, hmmmm i guess a $100M for the 6 days is possible

Didn't know POTC was doing that badly. Wow. Kudos to the big green ogre on that one.

Its a long holiday weekend, I see a MINIMUM of 80 million over the 5 day. 200 million domestic.

I think it's very difficult to predict this movie...i mean it's a franchise that has never had a movie...and it has the name Spielberg on it...and the trailers promise to be something that has never been seen before...i have a feeling that everybody is underestamating the movie,i think that most are in for a huge surprise

As an average movie goer (I see about 5-8 movies at the theatre a year) I'm really suprised at the cautious box office predictions people are making on these forums. Perhaps it's because of Michael Bay, and the changes hardcore fans are upset about, but I'm still blown away at the visuals by the previews alone.

Box Office is as predictible as the weather.

Its the competition. You never know which one the audiences are going to chime in on. Look at what took away from SR's box office besides Pirates 2...

The Devil Wear Prada

Who predicted that?

I say 95 mill opening.
250 mill dom.
200 mill international.

I think it will make more than that internationally.

Aren't all Japanese citizens mandated by law to watch ALL gigantic robot/monster/tentacle oriented movies?
