Anybody else dissapointed by that? No Wasp, Ms. Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Tigra, ANYBODY? Just Black Widow? It's a little sausage festy to me.

I was hoping for at least Wasp.

A little disappointed. But there are a lot of characters in this one so I don't want them to push the number up for PC reasons.

I'm more disappointed in the fact that the female member is Black Widow instead of the Wasp (nevermind the fact that Hank Pym isn't in it either, in favor of Purple Arrow).

I would have dropped Black Widow for Wasp, added in Ant-Man and Scarlet Witch. Possibly Vision too. I think this is a well chosen cast for an Avengers film, but I just don't agree with some of the character choices. I don't know.

I'm cautious, but slightly optimistic.

a special agent with guns and black tight leather suit for some insect girl lol

i think not

Just because Black Widow is 'hotter' than Wasp doesn't mean she deserves to be included over a founding member. Black Widow is really more of a Daredevil/SHIELD character. She's been in the Avengers before (I think), but she's never been a big character in that mythos.

Wasp has been and continues to be. So is Ant-Man. And Vision and Scarlet Witch and Wonder Man. I think they deserve to be included in this movie more so than Black Widow.

But it's a smidge like X-Men all over. They started with the most popular and then went from there. Sort of. Here they've started with the already established and have included one or two new ones.

i think black widow is just a much easier realistic character to translate

It seems as though BW and Hawkeye are replacing the Pyms in the movie version. This also puts Marvel ahead of DC since GA and BC would be good choices for a JLA movie. Not crazy about the move, although I like BW and Hawkeye and I like Ant Man and the Wasp as well.

One thing is Ant Man and especially Wasp would bring some much needed lighter humor and feel to the Avengers. Hank has his demons but Jan is often a pretty fun character.

is'nt hank a wife beater?

That's greatly greatly exaggerated at least in 616 Marvel. The Ultimates Hank is apparently a terrible person and character, but what happened with them in 616 was a one time thing in the middle of a nervous breakdown and was resolved later. And it was a BS story IMO.

I'd be willing to bet we'll be seeing more female characters by the time the movie is out. Joss Whedon has alot of experience with strong female characters, I can't imagine he wont try to get a few more in there. Maybe they wont have as big of a role as Widow or the actor wont be as big of a name as Scarlett, but I'm sure we'll have a few more there.

I would have loved to see Ant-man and wasp, but I wonder if a sequel Hank Pym, wasp, and Ant-Man (Scott Lang will join). I say this because in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man film doesn't it deal with Hank Pym and Scott Lang with Lang taking over? Could hank Pym become another charcter in Avengers like Giant-Man or Yellowjacket?

Scarlet Witch is licensed by FOX. I would like to see another female character, but I'm not too disappointed about it. There was only one female a part of the original Avengers anyway.

I doubt Marvel will leave out Antman and Wasp...

Ms Marvel seems too far a stretch tho

I have a feeling the Pyms may appear as scientists rather than heroes but I do agree, the Avengers need more super heroines.

Black Widow has been in and out of the Avengers since the 70's. She was there for most of the 90's and was even the leader at one point.

Still, she shouldn't be more than a cameo. Her and Hawkeye's inclusion in the main roster tells me two things, one good, one bad.

Good: It'll give Cap, Stark and Thor more to do, especially with the news that a certain item of great power will be in Thor and you know that they're not going to go smaller than that for the big team movie, so there's going to be a big need for heavy lifting (something two members with actual superpowers could help with).

Bad: It's looking to be very Ultimates influenced.

I love that Black Widow and Hawkeye are in this instead of Ant-Man and Wasp. I was never really a fan of them. They'll probably show up in the inevitable sequel anyway.

I really wanted Ms. Marvel in the movie too.

I've never read Ultimates, so I don't really care about that.

sf- Not so much, they were in the 616 Avengers pretty frequently iirc.

They were, but I guarantee Hawkeye will be a SHIELD operative as well. I have my hopes up, but it's still skating a bit too close for comfort.

Yeah, but not EVERYTHING Ultimates is bad. I expressed recently in a thread that while I feel that the adaptations and ideas should definitely primarily be lifted from 616, there ARE at least some good ideas in the Ultimate continuity that shouldn't immediately be written off. Hawkeye as a SHIELD agent is one of them, imo.

As long as he doesn't go all fingernail killing happy and Cap's not an *******, I'm good. For the most part.

As long as Hawkeye is as badass as he's supposed to be I couldn't care less if he is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent or not.
