Watching the season four finale, my least favourite episode, to be ready for tonight!

I am ready for more Joan ass tonight. Bring it.

Can't wait to get my mad men on...In honor of the season premiere, I'll be drunk while watching it.

So Don's baby is a toddler now. Anyone have an idea what year we're in this season?

Everybody has a kid now. Whoa.

I think its 1966. I mean according to wikipedia (not the most accurate source but still) Don was born in 1926. This is his 40th birthday. 1926+40=1966.

However I feel like there is some twist where it's been longer and thats not Don's real age. Idk why

According to this article, I think it's 1967: http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/03/19/mad-men-song-change/

They've already said in the premiere that it's the week after Memorial Day weekend, so 6 months after that (when the song discussed in that article made its debut) would still be the same year.

EDIT: I take it back, you're right. It's 1966. I just looked up that song, and it was released in JANUARY of 1967, so that whole "six months" thing must have been a rough estimate if this episode takes place the first week of June 1966.

After the break neck pace of a few shows that I watch regularly this was a nice slow premeire and what I have come to love in Mad Men.

I love how Mad Men is even funnier than most comedies.

Just two beautiful episodes. God, this show is so damn good.

L aughed so hard with the Roger/Don Exchange

"You wanna smile"

"Is that your Obituary "

Why do I sense that Roger is going to sleep with Megan by the end of the seasomn ?

I'm just delighted that it's back, it's been too long, every season premiere never early start with a bang but this was a good reminder why we love the show and set the tone for the season.

I loved that Roger fell into that ploy by Pete and as in most cases, Roger has the best lines.

"Why don’t you buy yourself a fancy hat… or a mask, or something.” :funny:

My favorite exchange was between Roger and his wife

Roger: Why don't you sing like that?
Jane: Why don't you look like him?

:funny:

My favourite exchange was with Harry and Roger.

Pete is only 8 years younger than Don and in true Pete Campbell fashion is not satisfied with what he has. He's basically where Don was 8 years ago, living in a new home outside Manhattan, with a young daughter and taking the train to work. Pete wanted that in the pilot and now is frustrated how things when he is in that position. Pete loves the city, he wanted to die in the city during the Cuban Missile Crisis and to see him

I don't think Roger will be out of that office by the end of the season (likely in early 1967) that should be an interesting battle unless he can grab a hold of some big company.

Megan too I feel won't last long at SCDP, just so that she can get the respect she deserves as a copywriter, not just seen as the boss' wife. I like the dynamic they did setup with her working there, Betty only briefly visited the Sterling Cooper offices.

Last year was Don hitting rock bottom and now this reborn Don doesn't have the same drive to succeed as before. The company has stabilized and he's still in the honeymoon phase of his marriage so he's not focused on gaining clients.

Due to January Jones' pregnancy, [BLACKOUT]Betty won't be featured much in season five, which may be good to take a breather from her constant unnecessary drama.[/BLACKOUT]

Lane could be joining Roger and Don with getting divorces and finding a younger wife (could it be Joan?).

What song was playing when Sally woke up and knocked on Don/Megan's door?

I loved how 70's all the production design ins this season. I they played everybody's stories perfectly.

The premiere thus far is just amazing.

This was a good, solid episode. I wasn't head over heals for it or anything but it laid a good foundation of what could happen to all of these characters for this season.

Just when I thought Pete changed, he's still his old self.

I like the new happier Don. It's time for him to get some happiness. But **** is bound to happen. And the tension with his wife, who by God, is sexy as ****. That 60's French lap dance.

Roger is as usual, his awesome self. He's even funnier too. His scene with Crane was pretty great. And Crane looks like he lost weight.

I just loved the real 60's feel of it. The party scene had that great feel. They're really in the thick of the 60's now. I have a feeling Pryce is gonna get with Joan for some reason.

And look, more black people that's not Carla!

To be honest, this might be one of my favorite Mad Men episodes.

the pete/roger dynamic is my favorite part of the show.

I love it too, it's probably my second favorite dynamic. I loved Pete's blatantly b***y behavior over wanting Roger's office.

it's funny because pete somehow makes being an ass heroic. love how he messes with roger at the end for always trying to get in on his meetings.

Why January Jones was not in that episode? Wash she still pregnant when filming?

I'm not liking the new Bobby. I think season 4 Bobby was my favorite, but I heard there were some problems between him and January Jones. Plus, he moved on to Once Upon A Time. I wish he could do both.

Yeah, new Bobby has a very whiny voice and even looks younger than the s3/4 Bobby.

It's so awesome we've seen Sally grow up throughout the series. Best child actor (outside of kids in Shameless US) on television...
