Open question: Where did the X-Jet come from?

This is an open question for everyone. Everyone, that is, except for the people who want to give me the answer: "Who cares?, "It's just there..." or "It's there. That's all you need to know."

Inside the movie reality and not the comic book reality, how did Xavier acquire the X Jet? How would Xavier have the means to build or acquire the X Jet?

If he had the X Jet built, the who built it?

If he bought the jet already completed, who did he buy it from?

Because I would assume no governemnt orginization would knowingly build the X Jet for the mutant community. No governemt would allow the mutants to have (or knowingly sell) technology greater than their own. Namely, the X Jet's cloaking/stealth mode technology. There's nothing on earth that has has this kind of technological capability.

And who on Earth has cloaking technology and who is not sharing it with other nation's militaries?

Would Hank have helped build the jet using is superior mind and Xavier using dummy coporations like Bruce Wayne would do in purchaising equipment in a roundabout way? And who were the technicians who actually physically assmbled the jet in its final stage?

Maybe in the movie universe, the X men used Shiar technology. Even though the Shiar have never been mentioned. Maybe we're just supposed to assume Xavier has had prolonged contact with the empire the whole time. Or some otherwordly society wiiling to help Xavier build the Jet. We can't say that the Fantastic Four helped them because, if all the movie universes are supposed to sync up, the FF are only in their second or third year of being a team. They don't yet have the facilities to help out in such a large scale. Did Stark Industries help develop and build the jet?

If Xavier recieved enough funding to create high tech gadgets like the Danger Room and all the accessories to the X-men, i believe he could have constructed his own jet with help. But its not really explained. This is all theory (obviously)

According to one of the prequel movieverse novels "An Accidental Interception of Fate", the X-Jet's origin is a recovery of one of the crashed SR-71's from the bottom of the sea, then gutted and rebuilt according to Hank's and Richard Reed's improved specifications. By choosing one that was already downed, that means that no one would notice a plane missing from a hangar at some air force base.

I can easily accept the recovery of a lost jet. Have Hank and Reed do some tweaks, that's easy to believe. And if Hank developed the Danger Room then maybe he could also develop the cloaking technology. Since I assume the Danger Room and the ship's cloak would use the same photon scrambling / bending (or molding) light technology.

Exactly. I feel the same way. In AIOF, Danger Room was a project developed by several people working in colloboration (not all of them named), but spear-headed by Reed with assistance from Hank. Xavier is a man who with his social standing and the services he renders, he would have plenty of impressive connections in the world. Look at Richard Branson, chairman of Virgin for example. When he goes off on an adventure he has the home phone numbers of several world leaders that he can contact directly to ask for permission for overfly rights. It wouldn't be too far fetched for xavier to know someone who knows someone who knows someone who has access to some exotic technology that the military isn't necessarily aware of, but is sympathetic to Xavier's cause.

My big concern is more on the practical side: Where do they get the fuel for the X-Jet? Surely it would be suspicious to have regular deliveries of Jet-A or JP-7 to what's essentially a private school for the gifted in a little Hamlet in Salem Center, miles away from the nearest major airport. Unless they make arrangements to refuel in the middle of nowhere and away from the mansion, since they can't obviously land at a major or recognized airport. I mean they could, but FAA regulations are strict about civilians not being able to have stealth technology or a jet capable of hypersonic speeds.

Well techically all we saw him do it finish the paint job...we never actually saw him constructing it.

Sabretooth sure wasnt the intellect of the bunch. I think Mystique and Toad had to be. Who knows, xavier and magneto could have known a mutant that gave them materials under the radar and then cyclops who likes bikes, and people like toad or someone built their stuff.

The original X-Men Blackbird was visually based on a modified, scaled-up version of the Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird" spy plane (hence the name) but was modified to carry several passengers, as well as for Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL). Some writers have referred to this design as the "SR-73", but it is not known if that designation is canon in the Marvel Universe. The original X-Men Blackbird has been destroyed and rebuilt numerous times in the course of the team's many adventures. The later versions incorporated technology created by the mutant inventor Forge, as well as alien (Shi'ar) technology, including weapon systems, holographic active camouflage, and engines capable of hypersonic speeds.

It could have been Forge with the help of Jean, Hank and Xavier the uber powerfull telepath. We know that Cyclops, Jean, Storm and Jason Stryker weren't Xavier's only students when the school started so Forge could have been there to help make it. Magneto could also have had a hand in the development/building of the first jet.

Now come to think of it. I wouldn't mind if they did an X-Men Begins somewhere down the line.t:

Yup but they made small modifications you wouldn't notice right away. Its a little sleeker and some of the interior was altered a bit. Nothing major though.
