Yeah, it should have included Sentinels but then Tom Rothman interfered with the plan of Sentinels that Brian and Dougherty had for X2, Rothman stated that he believed movie audience would find giant robots appearing in live-action to be too silly.

I liked the storylines they went with as it is as a self contained trilogy except the Pheonix saga would have went fourth along with the Hellfire Club. Maybe cram Sinister and Apocalypse into 5-6.

If x-men was purely a 6 film continuation franchise...

Two Trilogies....

The first would focus on Magnetos war againt humans...

the second would be the survival of the fitist causing both humans mutants to work together.

x1 - the brotherhood, there cause, and the intro of the x-men
x2 - wolverines back story, trask, sentinals, more of magnetos war
x3 - hellfire, the cure, the phoenix, concluding part to magnetos war.

x4 - legacy virus, sinister, mauraders and morlock massicure. Gambit introduced and repowering of mutants including rogue, and dewinged angel-archangel.
x5 - sinsiters continued prophecy of survival of the fitest, possibly the return of hellfire, maybe reavers, sentinals return introduction of bishop and the future prophecy.
x6 - rise of apocaylpse, four horsemen, return of phoenix, the penultimate end.

I don't think the X-films could last for over 6 films, i.e. the cast/contracts/and story development would've went dry...

I think the X-Films could've went like this:

X1same story) Intro. of the X-Men and Brotherhood, more focus on hate towards mutants,Henry Gyrich is alive

X2same story),Mystique recruits Avalanche while searching for Magneto, Stryker tells Logan a little bit more about Team X(mentions Sabrethooth, Deathstrike, etc), Stryker has more mind control mutants/team-battle fight scene

X3):Cyclops a more stern/harsh leader(in the beginning),Phoenix sub-plot/Jean's origin, intro Beast(but not a larger role), Rogue has gained flight/strength,Genosha Island/enslaving of mutants,Sentinels,FoH(members are Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw, Trask, Victor Creed),Emma/Shaw want to recruit Jean for economic/power reasons

X4: Cure plot, Dark Phoenix, the BoM are back(Psylocke/Juggernaut/Mutiple Man/Avalanche/Pyro), intro. of Morlocks, Leech is a Morlock and they team up with Magneto to get Leech back, WW Jr./Angel are introduced, Henry Guyrich/WW Jr. help fund the cure, Beast has a larger supporting role, when Magneto learns of Jean's power who uses Psylocke to try and coarse her,Mystique gets cured,the war is in D.C., Prof. X goes with the X-Men and battles Jean, dies, but before he does he manages to restore a few psychic barriers, banishing Dark Phoenix, the movie ends w/Xavier's Funeral, a new school year beginning, the team standing together as Cyclop declares its up to them to keep Xaviers dream alive, after the credits is the original ending scene in TLS

Not exactly six film time frame but I thought I'd share my 3 hour running time X-Men quadrilogy idea.

X-Men: Children of the Atom

Act 1:

The original five X-Men consisting of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, Angel and their new recruit Wolverine battling Magneto's Brotherhood consisting of Mastermind, Juggernaut, Sabretooth and Toad.

Act 2:

The X-Men battling the Sentinels created by Boliver Trask, it ends with Trask escaping and Beast, Iceman and Angel leaving the team.

X-Men: New Genesis

Act 1:

Cyclops, Jean Grey and Wolverine with their new recruits consisting of Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus ending their battle with Boliver Trask, it ends with Jean's transformation into Phoenix.

Act 2:

The X-Men helping Lilandra battle her brother D'Ken in space.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix Rising

Act 1:

X-Men battling the Hellfire Club, it ends with Jean transformation into Dark Phoenix, attacking the X-Men and destroying Alien planets.

Act 2:

The Shiar want Dark Phoenix dead, it ends with Jean Grey commiting suicide as Dark Phoenix.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Story:

Jean Grey comes back but with the Phoenix Force seperated and the X-Men battling Apocalypse.

Kind of a lack luster part 6 don't you concur? Yikes... the past...

Movies are always defined by the trinity... the beginning, the middle and the end! its how they form the story arc...

Now to me there are two strong story arc's this franchise can follow. Which is the devide between human and mutant kind... and the bond between human and mutant kind to face a greator foe...

Bit like saying two towns go to war! the only way those two make peace is if something bigger like a metorite which will wipe out both, unites each other to help stop it...

This is why ive always said...

X1 to X3 - should have always been about the intolrence between Human and Mutants, that war that slowly builds... They were right to intro Magneto as the face of mutants wanting the war. they were right to include wolverines back story with weapon x as it fits into that arc perfectly... The cure again is the last straw which sparks the war. The only thing i would of said is that maybe they should of brought in sentinals at this point, not to the extend of giant robots but something that gives humans the upper hand against mutants... Phoenix was totally not needed for this story as it did not fit in with the war between the two... unless Jean becomes the phonix right at the end that stops the war and makes them all realise they can live together.

X4 to X6 - whould of been how both humans and mutants work together to fight something far more sinister, i figure someone like Apocalypse wanting a Survival of the Fittest kind of story would fit perfectly in that, because Apocaylpse doesnt necessary care if you a mutant or not, its if you can fight and become the victor of it all. So the arc needed to be about survival, two which the legacy virus showing a fight for there own survival, sentinal development and the hellfire's envolvement which leads to how both humans and mutants almost re-ignighting the war but is this stops when by the last movie we have the rise of apocalpyse and the fourhosement.
