I like that is free to play I got it for PS5 and Swtich I got to dabble in both and I like it may have to jump in more in the future

This games release has been a fun excuse to get back into Overwatch but... It's an absolute joke to even try and pretend this is Overwatch 2 lol.

I always wanted to try Overwatch and this gives me a good excuse. Does this release not change much then?

I only dabbled in overwatch 1 so I am basically a newbie still so I have that going for me

Honestly almost nothing haha Some character and gameplay tweaks here and there (Like the biggest one is changing teams from 6 players to 5).

I never played heaps of the original Overwatch, so it's still a good excuse to get into it again. But otherwise, it's like the same game. Most of the maps are the same from the original. I think there are 3 new characters?

And there's a season pass instead of loot boxes. Although I will say, I think the season pass is very stingy. There's a gold coin currency, and the avg cosmetic item costs around the 1200 - 2000 mark in gold coins (Which is like $20+ AUD). But the only way to earn that currency is by completing the 3 weekly challenge, which adds up to only 60 gold coins total. So that's something like TWENTY WEEKS if you wanted to buy a single cosmetic through gameplay alone.

I think it's atrocious TBH. Almost every other season pass model is less stingy than that.

Really doesn’t sound like a new game at all. The change from 6 players to 5 doesn’t sound great either. Luckily I don’t usually care about cosmetics too much (probably would if they were cheap) but that sounds ridiculous.

Sounds like standard video game industry practices to me.

Yeah this is OW 1.5.

I played some fair share with friends on the original game but I don't think I'll jump on this.

Standard for Activision maybe. But most other popular (and definitely free to play) Battlepass games will let you earn currency through it, so you can recover some (and occasionally all) of the original battlepass cost.

Even the original Overwatch would reward you with free loot boxes every few levels. So far, OW2 actually gives you LESS than the first game. And I don't think the argument that it's "Free to play" holds much water when this F2P game is like 90% the same as the first game (which now no longer exists). It's fairly anti-consumer tbh.

I thought they would be improving a bunch of stuff and make a proper sequel. Wonder why it’s taken so long if it’s essentially just an update.

Also they should be adding a decent amount of PvE content next year but I think you have to pay 60 bucks for that upgrade.

I like PvE. Wonder if any chance the PVE stuff would be included with game pass.

Cool to keep getting new characters.
